True. A fair number of products sold in the US are manufactured in Mexico, though a lot are based in China and the far east. The US like most developed countries outsources a lot of its manufacturing to developing countries where wages are lower. I have to wonder why US companies aren't setting up their manufacturing operations in central and south america. Standards of education come into that equation somewhere - but Mexico (to me) seems as though it would be perfect for manufacturing. That said, the industrial infrastructure of mexico will never be able to compete on the level of China, for instance.

There are many US owned plants on the Mexican side of the border. The US is not a manufactering economy anymore. We are a servide industry. Design it and sent it over seas to be built.

Many Fords are assembled in Mexico. Most of their spare part manufacturing is already in Mexico, etc. NAFTA at work.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

You crack down on the illegal employment - on the employer side. And I mean crack down.

They'll leave on their own if there's no jobs to be had. ;)

Of course, many seem to prefer capitulation.

Do you ever see this happening? Ha ha. Like the agro-industrial lobby would allow for that. 25% of workers in meat packing industry are estimated to be illegal immigrants.

Thus my statement that many prefer to capitulate. Get out the white flags and sack all the jokes about the French. We're apparently just as "courageous"...
