Your story is very similar to my story!

My bf and I met online in a Yahoo chatroom when we were 15 too!! We waited until we were both done highschool to meet, which for us was 4.5 years ago, we are both 24 now. We have been dating long distance for 4.5 years, but have been chatting for 9.5 years :o Luckily, are close to eachother (Toronto/NYC) so our visits are frequent (every month or so), so that's why we have decided to do the long distance thing until we are both established and ready for a big move.

I can totally relate to the connection you have when you grow up together like this and I wish you all the best (L)

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Congratulations on your engagement. You don't need a lawyer. All he/she will do is fill out the same forms that are listed in the step by step guides. Having a lawyer will not speed up the process and often times will slow it down when they become non-communicative and difficult to reach once you pay their retainer. There are many people here who will assist you with any question you have and guide you along the way. Save the money for your wedding. Welcome to the VJ Family.

Congratulations and welcome! Save all of your chats, plane tickets, phone records and anything else that can help you prove your relationship is "legitimate".

P.S. I chose to retain a Lawyer and he has pointed out many things that I had not considered, even after countless hours on this site. Just do your research and make the choice yourself. There are many people on here that have done this entirely on their own.
