Hello,

Desperate, my husband decided to call USCIS this morning.

As soon as he got someone on the phone, they checked our case and told him to call back in 2 weeks... he mentioned that we are past the 180 days by 2 months already and if we call it's to get informations and not to be told to call back in 2 weeks each time.

We have been waiting and meanwhile nothing has been done, they have all they asked for so why is it taking so long?

She got mad, refused to give her name and... HUNG UP on him!

Now tell me, are they allowed to refuse to give their names and hang up on peple? My husband is a gentleman and he would never be rude or agressive on the phone, he just asked for informations.

We are so desperate, look at our timeline, why is it taking so long, we have no clue...

Everytime I have called, they state their name and employee number off the bat prior to even being asked a question. I just called them yesterday and although she didn't give me good news, she was very polite.

I am glad it goes smoothly for you, though that doesn't mean it goes the same for everyone. As I said my husband is never rude and certainly not on the phone, though that's what happened today.

I don't think Delicia meant to imply that it does go the same for everyone, she is just sharing her experience :)

You never know who is going to pick up that phone - luck of the draw. I would have him try calling back again to speak with someone else. I'm sure their call manual does not include hanging up on customers - but as you know there are always a few in every group!

Good luck

Sorry to hear about your experience. Perhaps it would be a good idea to first ask them for their name and employee ID before asking anything? this way you can have a record of your calls.

Thank you.

I asked my husband and he told me that even though some give their names and employees numbers not all of them do it right away.

He usually asks for them and writes them down "in case". Of course he didn' this time...

This post was more about venting than anything else anyways, we are all in the same boat and there is not much we can do.

Thank you for your support and good luck to you all as well.

My experience with them has been okay, BUT I did call this past monday and spoke to a CSR and she was "VERY SCRIPTED" you know what I mean. She was just spouting off her script and here I was trying to get a word in .....but ...she wouldn't shut up long enough!!!

Of course, I did ask my question and she responded and that was that.

It all depends who your call is routed to at that time, but they shouldn't be hanging up on their customers.

Sorry that your husbands experience was not a very good one.

Hello, Sorry to hear about USCIS bieng rude. I have had rude people with the misinformation line. Some of them act like they had better things to do. Almost like you were interupting them. Yesterday I decided to do the RFE call, the lady I talked to was pleasant. I told her that I thought our case was outside normal time.[ RECD. date 7/27/07 ] She told me all about bieng six months behind... BLAAAH BLAAA HBLAAAH. She told me our case was with an adjutication officer. At this point I asked, so we shold hear some news soon? She said,to give it another sixty days. That is the same thing the misinformation line said thirty days ago. Anticipating this, I contacted my congressman earlier this week. After going to get the mail today, I discovered my timing was good. No not the NOA#2. Privacy forms from my congressman. I do not know if its going to help or not. The forms will be returned to his office monday. I will post the results as soon as possible... Good Luck to all John&Jean

John and Jean,

If at all possible either fax now or hand deliver them and ask who your case worker will be - remember they are not good at picking up their voice mail, but once you get a case worker they can do wonders - get to know them, they will become your best friend.

good luck on this journey and we are here supporting each other

Where do you find out exactly what 'normal' processing times are? I thought it was 6 months. If so, you are just barely outside of processing times....barely meaning by a fraction of a hair.....have patience. It's not like you've gone 7,8, or even 9 months. The reason uscis is like they are is because people are calling when the are one day outside of processing times...get real!

If normal processing times are are considerably less than 6 months then please forgive my slightly pointed remarks.

Hello James long time no see.

I would think that there six months is way past due as they do not have an NOA1 yet from filing in July 2007 -or maybe the timeline has not been updated not sure - but correct me again if I am reading this incorrectly as I always welcome our small debates.... Cheers

Desperate, my husband decided to call USCIS this morning.

We are so desperate, look at our timeline, why is it taking so long, we have no clue...

We have also had particularly awful experiences calling USCIS :( (BTW I was never rude or aggressive either)...and in the end I was also hung up on (it was a man that I spoke with). I called USCIS right back and luckily I did get someone that tried to help me. Prior to that we called USCIS and changed our address and 6 weeks later found out it was never processed by the operator. They really know how to pick the winners!

Luckily things got sorted out for us but we were looking at serious set backs (both time and money) because of their incompetience.

Now I keep much better logs of all calls that I make regarding our petition, and they do rattle off their "employee number" and name when they finally pick up the phone...but they rattle it off so fast there is no way that most people could write it down if they did indeed understand what was just said. Being that we still have AOS to get thru we will no doubt be calling USCIS again in the future and I am dreading that :clock: but I fully intend to get the operators name and number before proceeding with my enquiry because obviously after you've had a problem it is too late.

...and of course I recommend anyone else calling USCIS do the same!

Also...get a reference number (transaction number?) if they have done ANYTHING (esp. address change) for you over the phone!

07/16/07 posted I-129f

07/20/07 confirmed delivered by US Postal Service

8/23/07 No NOA1 !!!!

10/17/07 Phoned USCIS, got thru (!), got WAC number and NOA1 date!!!!
