One of California's largest unions has thrown its support to Barack Obama for president.

The Service Employees International Union made its decision two days after its first choice, John Edwards, dropped out of the race.

...

The 650,000-member union's backing could help Obama cut into Hillary Rodham Clinton's lead in the polls among Democratic base voters, many of whom are union members.

The SEIU includes city, county and state employees, as well as in-home support and health care workers.

But there are only a few days left before Tuesday's election, and the union does not have much time to muster support for Obama.

Hope Obama can win California, though Hillary is favorite to win Cali. Obama also got endorsed by the largest union in Nevada, but that did not prevent his lost.

The unions have supported the Democrats since time immortal. Ditto with the Black vote going to the Dems. Unfortunately it is out of "habit" rather than modern reality. The Dems talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. They have sold us out for their own self serving political interests. They have embraced illegal labor and increased immigration quotas to stab labor in the back.

I come from a family background of union men and have personally walked the picket line in my youth when I was a steelworker. I'm not union now only because it is not an available option. The pendulum has swung far enough to the corporations that I see something needs to happen for the American worker.

The scuttlebutt after the first illegal alien amnesty of 1986 was that Reagan wanted to break the unions. Look at union membership after the 6 illegal alien amnesties since then (several signed by Bill Clinton). Reagan signed the big amnesty of 1986, but it was a Democratic Congress that passed the amnesty for him to sign.

Although I don't trust the Republicans 100% in this regard, this Democratic pandering to illegal aliens and promises of guaranteed permanent residency to an endless stream of deceptively misnamed "guestworkers" is destructive to American workers. That's the bottom line. Look at the result of 25+ years of rampant legal and illegal immigration combined that has skewed labor in favor of the corporations.

How do you resolve mass illegal and legal immigration with being in the interests of American workers? Unfortunately that is the BS the Dems want working Americans to buy into. And I don't look to the Dems to do anything about it. I see the opposite.

It was the severely reduced immigration quotas imposed in 1921 under the Emergency Immigration Act and further reductions in 1924 that resulted in gains that American labor made in expanding the middle class.

It was Teddy Kennedy and his Dems that set us on the course we are on now with their deceptive immigration reform of 1965. So I'm not really surprised that Kennedy endorses Obama. More of the same old sh*t. Look at the 2 so called "comprehensive immigration reform" amnesties Teddy tried to shove up our azzes in 2006 and 2007.

Think about that before you buy into the notion that the the Dems are the friend of the American worker or the savior of American Blacks. I ain't buying it.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
