I usually like Ann, but not this time.

Here are some 2006 ratings from the American Conservative Union.

I've thrown in Hunter and Brownback (who would both probably be considered true conservatives by most) for comparison sake, and Kerry, Kennedy, and Pelosi just for grins.

87 Brownback

88 Hunter

65 McCain

12 Kerry

8 Clinton

8 Obama

8 Pelosi

0 Kennedy

Anyone who thinks McCain is just as bad as Clinton is nuts. Yeah, I'd rather have someone else as President, but considering the choices, McCain would have to get my vote. Sorry, Ann.

I suppose if he picks a conservative VP, he would get some base back, but I dunno - I think he's definitely facing an uphill battle.

True, but he is going to pick up a lot of votes from moderate Dems. I'm starting to hear a lot of Dems who wouldn't vote for Romney or Huckabee, but would vote for McCain if the Dems nominate Hillary. This has actually surprized me a bit.

Hmm, I'm not sure that an endorsement from Ann is a good thing for Hillary......Ann's one of those over the top people that grates on everyone, including conservatives.

I'm not saying it's good, it's shocking to me though.

I dunno - the Dems are pretty fed up with the current admin - hence the record #s of voter lately...

I think Ann just has her panties in a bunch because she can't vote for one of her favs. That is, of course, unless she prefers thongs which sort of preempts the bunching problem. Er, I mean I don't really know because I've never worn them myself, but I would imagine that is the case.

Getting the nomination is enough for McCain. The Republican base will be motivated enough to vote just to vote against Clinton. That gives him the red states. He also has a good chance of winning Florida and California. California is rarely in play for Republicans, winning there alone is enough for a McCain victory.

Wow, so sure of yourself. I doubt any candidate is that sure...

Yup, I think that about sums it up, whether you all like McCain or not.

BTW, I'd like to see him select Brownback or Hunter for VP, but I could be dreaming.

Coulter took aim at McCain's positions — particularly his fervent anti-torture stance — and said he and Clinton differ little on the issues. Coulter also said she is prepared to campaign on Clinton's behalf should McCain win the party's nomination.

You would think spending over 5 years in a POW camp would qualify Mr McCain to have whatever position he likes on torture. He is far wiser than anyone on TV when it comes to this.

Intelligence gathered from torture is unreliable at best. It costs us far more anyway, by getting the rest of the world to hate us for very little (if any) gain.

But wait, America doesn't engage in torture. Oh, wait. Yes we do. We just call it interrogation. Right.

I don't like McCain, but ####### could Coulter probably have to say negative about a candidate being anti-torture. Since when was human rights a Republican vs. Democrat characteristic?
