I have a question too. For those that don't support legalization of illegal immigrants, how exactly are we going to round them all up and send them home? I for one am not thrilled about an amnesty but I'm also realistic and don't see how they are going find all these people and send them home. It seems like the longer we take to find a solution to this problem the more out of hand it gets.

we have to start somewhere. & thats what these laws are doing. take the benefits of coming illegally away & they will leave.

as far as funding for the deportation of the ones that stay. complete & total asset seizure of people that aide in illegal immigration. what isn't $$$ auctioning it off will fund much of it.....hell i'll buy some of it.

Here are the only ways you could attain a legal residence in the US and after looking at these tell me how a poor famr worker who doesn't make enough to even buy a plate or rice could benefit and have an opportunity to come here legally:

- Immigration through a family member (Oops... no family member cause they all live with him in a small hut)

- Immigration through employment (Oops... how many employers actually go recruiting outside of the country for simple farm workers)

- Immigration under the national interest waiver for physicians in underserved areas (Oops... remember his a farm worker)

- Immigration through investment (Oops... you mean no American country is interested in investing in this poor farm worker)

- Immigration through the Legal Immigration Family Equity Act (LIFE) (Oops... once again they all ive with him in a small hut)

- Adjusting to lawful permanent resident status as an asylee or refugee (Oops... so because the US gorvernment has covered their eyes to this workers inhumane treatment by his own government... maybe just maybe they don't qualify this way either)

- Immigration through the Diversity Lottery (Wow... so 50,000 lof these are given and most of them are given based on education)

- Immigration through International adoption (Oops... i guess he's too old to get adopted)

- Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) (Hmm... interesting... let me guess maybe he qualifies here.)

- Immigration through "The Registry" Provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act (...or maybe here)

- Immigration as a "Special Immigrant" (What does this even mean?)

- Immigration through Country-Specific Adjustment (Did i forget to mention he is a lowly farmer who does not live in the correct country)

- Immigration through the Cuban Adjustment Act (Now... we all know the only reason cubans get this right? Could it be simply out of spite for the Cuban government)

- Immigration through the Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act of 1998 (HRIFA) (Well... i guess he's not hatian either)

- Iraqi Exemption to Asylee Adjustment Cap (O come on... do i have to go into this one?)

- Immigration through the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief ACT (NACARA) Section 202 (How many people get this visa?)

- Immigration through the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief ACT (NACARA) (Section 203) (How many people get this visa?)

- Adjustment through Syrian Adjustment Act (P.L. 106-378) (I don't even understnad this one)

- Immigration for Eligible Individuals from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos (Did i mention he does not come from the right government?)

Oh and did i forget to mention that these people can't even get a tourist visa since they don't have enough money to proof that they are worthy... Now you get your facts straight!!!

So is your argument that since being an illegal immigrant they shouldnt have to play by the same rules as everyone else just because they dont have enough money and/or dont qualify or that it might take them years once they have applied for one of the above to be approved ?? Nice bit of info on many ways to immigrate but in no way shape or form does that give someone the right to just cross illegally and then think they have a legal basis to stay

masterpiece91

You are right about one thing... alot of these people do not even use their own SS# which means they keep paying into a system that will not benefit them in the long run to begin with... and by the way one way or another they are paying their taxes are they not?

If you actually believe that the majority of those here illegally are all paying the proper taxes then well my friend you are sadly mistaken. Just what do you thin happens when one starts a job with a phony SSN ? Do they just continue to allow them to stay on the payroll just because they are collecting very small amounts of tax ? Try and live in a border state and see just how many of your friendly neighborhood illegals actually pay any kind tax or better yet are even on any kind of payroll at all.

masterpiece91

And also who the heck told you people come here thinking they deserve everything? For the most part the people that come here are hard working people who are more than happy to collect the crumbs from your table and live a life of gratitude towards you for allowing them to do that.

While I can agree that most who come here are hard working the vast majority of them also believe they are entitled to remain here. Try visiting your local hospital in the Phoenix area and just observe what goes on. Or sit outside your local Home Depot or Fry's grocery store and see what really goes on.

I hope from the facts shown aboe you could see that indeed my statements were true. And also just to make sure you understand... i am all for having people come here legally.... so make that available....

And one last thing... if you think that we as a country could round up over 12 million people to deport them than you are an ignorant refusing to see the details of such a large task... and simply not educated enough to know that this is not possible...

Check Mate

masterpiece91

The only facts you have presented are some basic requirements for various visa's that are available. You are still trying to make the argument that since people cant afford and/or dont want to be on a waiting list that its ok and a valid excuse for them being here illegally. Surely you jest in thinking that one is not educated enough simply because one doesn't support those who are here illegally. Maybe it shows how inferior your arguments in support of those who are here illegally. Instead of totally ignoring the only FACT and that is those 12 million+ are here ILLEGALLY you should rant on how they need to make themselves legal. Go back wherever they are from and apply thru the proper channels would be a good start. but you see my friend that won't happen as a good portion could care less about being legal.

Of coarse we all know 12 million cant be deported but your living in a dream world if you think the "Path to Citizenship" is nothing more than amnesty. You grant them all full legal status and our immigration problems of today will pale in comparison to what we will face.

You still havent made any valid argument as to why illegals should be allowed to stay. So go cut n paste some more visa info that ALL immigrants are eligible for legally and then try to make the case that they are poor or it takes to long so it shouldnt apply to them.

What about the masses who do come here legally every single year, no matter how long they had to wait or how long they had to save.

Right back atcha :)

Now if we can just get on with building that fence...

That's one thing that McCain has realized, that nobody will compromise on the other stuff until the border is secure. Until that happens, everything else is a waste of time and money.

I completely agree with this. I think before we discuss amnesty or legalization we need to secure the border so the problem doesnt get worse.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

But the only thing the proposed fence will do, is increase sales of metal cutters and shovels. Maybe the fence is just suppose to be economic stimulus.

#######? this is a serious question. why are there some people that are so against unskilled American & legal immigrants having a chance at a job w/o having to except lower wages to compete w/ illegal immigrants? i don't understand it. these laws are being put in place to protect the middle & lower class.

hmm 30min. & not 1 answer to the question

Smoke,

i'm not sure there are people against this law. I completely understand your point. I simply think that we are not tackling the root of the problem by simply saying let's get rid of them all... I think the problem goes way beyond the fence. I think the problem lies in american companies exploiting other ppor countries along with corrupt politics in these countries and a broken down immigration system which does not give the people who need to survive a fair chance to come here legally or at least to generate the capital they need to make in their country.

How is it that they are not allowed the chance to survive? Well if anyone ever leaves this country and really takes a momment to see things without blinders they will see american companies and politicians exploiting the riches of these countries. They too see the corruption going on in these countries but they simply cover their eyes since they are benefiting from it.

By the way i am not an anti-american. I am proud to be american but i also need to be realistic and see both sides to comprehend what is really happening. Even with the immigration issue in this country why is it that nothing really has been done? Don't you think that these big companies benefit from having all this illigal immigration? They get to exploit someone who is afraid of saying anything because even if they do get cheated here they are able to live a better life than in their country. The problem lies where it always will.

The love of money is root of all evil..... This is the root of this issue and until someone stops covering their eyes and does something about this, we will continue to have an immigration problem!

i understand people wanting a better life. i have seen true poverty. why is it that peoples better life has to come at the expense of Americas poor? corruption in foreign countries is not the US's problem & greedy corporations exploiting people isn't the poor Americans fault either. the people hurt the most by illegal immigration is Americas poor....but, yet no sympathy for them...??? hell, lets just add more poor that will fix it !

We's got dem minimum wage laws. Bust the businesses that don't want to play neither fair nor maintain a decent standard of living. Which is, according to what these new attrition-based laws say, will happen with the ilegales. Then again, businesses can just pack up and go elsewhere... outsourcing themselves to make a bigger buck where they feel an advantage. Then you've just condemned both ilegales and the lower classes alike. Way to go!

so you have no answer?

Whining over a lack of reading comp...

That should be answer enough.

The American at least has a chance of upward mobility. Quick! Before his/her job gets outsourced to... [pick your favorite country]

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

We's got dem?

Anyhow, the biggest offenders - farming, construction & meatpacking plants - can hardly get outsourced.
