If that humanity you have doesn't extend to non-illegals who suffer from your compassion for law breakers, yes.

I don't support braking the law either. I support making the problems of illegals less of a tax payer burden and less of a burden on legals who have to compete with them. You care to interest yourself with that?

Then again, reality is not as easily polarized as just that. We need to mitigate the reality that creates the condition of illegal immigration in the first place. And that, coincidentially, involves having humanity to those that under current circumstances, become our illegals in order to seek life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But I think they can easily content themselves with just a little pursuit of happiness.

The most rational compassion toward illegals is to force them to make the change they need in their own countries, not to import their problems for us to deal with. If life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is a natural right, it transcends borders, and should be demanded of foreign governments, not just of ours. Make them be the change they want to see in their own countries, not ours, unless they come legally. That is the most compassionate thing to do for the most equitable result.

Change that we oppose indirectly (for us) and directly (for them) in their countries because it is contradictory to our profits and interests. Lets get on the same page here.

We demand transparency and democracy from foreign governments only when it appeases us. That is part of the fundamental problem.

Like I said Charles, it's wrong to accuse someone of racism. Just Wrong. Conservative, Liberal - whatever you care to call yourself.

Yet, you insist on doing so.

When someone writes out an argument that contains 'hello white people' or 'I'm brown and exotic' - well then there's nothing left to accuse them off. The proof is in the pudding.

I am brown and exotic. You must be white since you seem to believe my post was addressed to you. The issues of illegal brown people, white guilt, and the advantages of American society in contrast to the areas illegals are running from are all valid issues that have been addressed repeatedly on immigration threads. I did nothing wrong by posting them as coming from a brown illegal they do seem to be a major concern of the illegal lovers here.

Maybe someone should post 'hello christians I'm a Muslim' and see if that plays on VJ.

This simple fact remains - if you have to use brown/white as the flame-bait fire in a post to make your point, you diminish any credibility you may have in trying to reprimand those you believe use the race card against those who argue against illegal entry and amnesty.

racist.

Just because GEG has middle eastern background really doesn't make it imposible for her to be racist. After all, we know that there is racism between blacks and latin americans probably because both groups often live in poverty stricken conditions. Her supposedly 'ironic' post was racist and offensive.

It's not impossible for you to be overly sensitive, either. You need to assume racism on my part for you to be offended. You could as easily assume I'm not racist, but that wouldn't serve your agenda.

All you have to do is read the xenophobia that abound here based on the actual, real numbers. I think maybe, for VJ purposes, we should just have a poll for people to anonymously express what they really think of illegals based on race, law, and money.

Also, we need to weed out those using race-laced language. And white guilt terminology is race-based.

Much of the terminology around illegal immigration is race-based, and white guilt is as much of a component of the debate as is racism. Both exist as elements of the conflict; how we assess who suffers from one or the other is the challenge.

I thought the wording disagrees with you... according to the founding fathers... you are dead wrong with your semantics. If you want to argue meaning and interpretation please open up another thread ignoring what they considered to be the unalienable rights of man.

I second VW for president!

Too many here want to twist this issue into a racist argument when it's clearly not. It's a matter of how my tax dollars are spent, and on whom....

Now, given the majority of illegals are indeed Hispanic their nationality is an integral part of this discussion. It's not racist to mention that fact.

Does the fact that these people are "undocmented" and therefore are illegal residents sapping our social services and systems not worry anyone here?

To give them a "path to citizenship" is simply insane, not Humane...We tried humane treatment the last time we granted amnesty and here we are now!

As for the old 'my tax dollars' argument. That is just so lame. If you choose to live in society you will have your taxes spent for you by the goverment. Some on things you approve of, some on things you don't no matter which party is in office. Tax is a necessary evil if you view it that way. Personally, I don't get all fired up about taxes. They are what they are.
