Hillary: Those who want to deport illegals are "living in some other universe"

I like the idea that if the employee has a bad SSN that does not match Then the employer does not get the tax deductions for employing that worker. Without being able to get the deductions they will find it unprofitable to hire then. Then they will not need to be deported they will self deport because of lack of employment. It is starting to happen already.

Illegal immigrants "self deport" as woes mount

By Tim Gaynor

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Mexican illegal immigrant Lindi sat down with her husband Marco Antonio in the weeks before Christmas to decide when to go back to Mexico.

She has spent three years working as a hairdresser in and around Phoenix, but now she figures it is time to go back to her hometown of Aguascalientes in central Mexico.

"The situation has got so tough that there don't seem to be many options left for us," Lindi, who asked for her last name not to be used, told Reuters.

The couple are among a growing number of illegal immigrants across the United States who are starting to pack their bags and move on as a crackdown on undocumented immigrants widens and the U.S. economy slows, turning a traditional Christmas trek home into a one-way trip.

In the past year, U.S. immigration police have stepped up workplace sweeps across the country and teamed up with a growing number of local forces to train officers to enforce immigration laws.

Meanwhile, a bill seeking to offer many of the 12 million illegal immigrants a path to legal status was tossed by the U.S. Congress, spurring many state and local authorities to pass their own measures targeting illegal immigrants.

The toughening environment has been coupled with a turndown in the U.S. economy, which has tipped the balance toward self deportation for many illegal immigrants left struggling to find work.

"It is still just a thought, although we are preparing to leave," said Ernesto Garcia, a carpenter from Caborca in northwest Mexico, who stood in line at the Mexican consulate in Phoenix this week for paperwork that will allow him and his family to resume their lives south of the border.

By the way I love brown people!

Thanks for posting this information. I posted similar comments a few pages back suggesting what this article seems to say, that is that if you make things hard enough, as an alternative to "a path to citizenship", then most will probably leave of their own volition.

Too many here see acquiescing as the only alternative to the impractical solution of mass deportation. I say keep their status in limbo, tighten the jobs availability through laws designed to punish employers, no DL's and a good number will simply leave on their own.

Exactly. And make a fence so more can't get in without a VISA.

The elites from both parties have been imposing this same old horseshit on the American people for 25+ years. Republican cheap labor and Democratic cheap votes. And we keep voting these worthless jackasses into office year in and year out. It looks like more of the same in 2008...Hillary or McCain...both illegal alien cheerleaders with long records to prove it. When will the American people wise up? Are we that stupid to keep voting in these idiots that keep imposing the same old horsehit on us repeatedly?

Hillary is an idiot. There have been 7 illegal alien amnesties since 1986 (several signed by her husband Billary Clinton) along with repeated broken promises to enforce the law. It never happens. These lies just encourage and embolden more and more illegal immigration. When will the American people figure out that these jackasses don't want to stop illegal immigration and quit voting them into office?

U.S. Amnesties for Illegal Aliens

Congress has passed 7 amnesties for illegal aliens, starting in 1986.

1. Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA) Amnesty, 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens.

2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens.

3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994.

4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America.

5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.

6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens.

7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens.

Insanity (and stupidity) is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. My advice...don't go there again...don't vote for any Democrat or any Republican like McCain.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

The only facts you have presented are some basic requirements for various visa's that are available. You are still trying to make the argument that since people cant afford and/or dont want to be on a waiting list that its ok and a valid excuse for them being here illegally.

Do you seriously think that the only reason people come and stay here illegally is because they can't afford a visa or don't want to be on a waiting list???? People spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to come here illegally. It is more expensive to come here illegally than legally, unless you luck into a tourist visa (which the majority of people here illegally would never qualify for). My husband's family (with the exception perhaps of his mother) can never come visit us. Why? They don't have "sufficient ties" to their country, ie they don't have their own high-performing businesses. Sure, they can *apply* for a visa, but they'd never get one. They'd just be throwing out their $100+ dollars. Do you seriously think that they're going to give tourist visas to Mexican farmers? Of course not! Why? Because they are considered very likely to come and not leave. I'm not arguing against this policy; we probably shouldn't be offering tourist visas to thousands upon thousands of people who will probably just overstay their visas.

There aren't visas available for unskilled workers either. You can't get some random Dunkin' Donuts or other place that specializes in hiring people who don't speak english very well to sponsor a bunch of visas for foreigners. Those visas are only for skilled workers. I imagine that some agricultural owners would be happy to sponsor migrant workers, but there isn't really a mechanism for them to do so.

To think that the majority of people who are here illegally had any option to come legally, be it by way of tourist visa or work visa, is completely unrealistic.

What is really unrealistic is your pipe dream of thinking its ok to come to the USA illegally because of the costs involved and/or not being eligible for the proper visa.

Unbelievable you even attempt to argue your point.

I don't see anywhere in my post where I condoned coming to the US illegally. I'm just saying that those who say "get a visa, come the legal way" lack an understanding of who has access to legal means of coming here. BTW I'm all for people self-deporting. But wouldn't it be great if we could find a way to make the system work and fill those jobs that Americans don't want to do with *legal* immigrants? Like it or not, many industries are dependent on the labor provided by illegal immigrants.

Hi, friendly white people! I'm so happy to see so many of you here making a case for me! I'm brown, I steal, cheat, lie, trespass, exploit your tax money for educational opportunites, health care, and, social services to have a better life. I'm so happy that you feel sorry for me and reward me for my wrongdoing because you can't possibly deport me. I just wanna work and send money out of the country. If you make me legal, I can get a better job and not be paid so little, and my children can also take college slots from your children, and compete with them for the good jobs still left after outsourcing.

Please, white people . . . I'm brown and exotic foreigner. You can marry me and help me, or vote for illegal lovers to run the country. You know the plight of all the world's brown people is the burden of American white people who are historically responsible for all the problems in the world, so none of my crimes are my fault - they are not even crimes coz no illegal is a criminal for stealing, cheating, lying, and trespassing, right? I am more deserving of your sympathy than poor American blacks (you are tired of their problems anyway). Inform your representatives that you want me to stay and have a path to citizenship. Vote in the liberals!

I don't see it that way. I see it as a paraphrase of what all of the illegal immigrant sympathisers have been saying right here in this thread.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

 the "invasion of the brown peoples" or "humanity" or "you're a racist, for not loving the illegals" is much worse.

Not really, it's merely a ridiculous and incredibly whiney post that contains all the cliches and catchphrases that are used to demonise illegal immigrants. I have no problem with people arguing the merits of the different ways to try to solve what is a real problem, but to do it like that? Sorry, no, that is someone with a deep seated fear of or hatred of a group of people and not just because they are illegal.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
