No, we need to go to the consulate in person.

They usually send representative of the consulate every couple of months to every major city of the states that they do cover. You might want to check with your consulate.

Then, you make an appointment and turn in your paperwork in person.

I am a little worried (it is what i do best, to be honest!).

In the worst case that the interview letter gets lost in the mail and i never hear of it, i am in trouble.

Is it true if i don't show up to the interview, my case is automatically denied? This is just scary.

USPS is not known for its reliability. I wish USCIS would send all important mails with signature confirmation or something a tad more safe.

I have been reassured by what I have read online. It is pretty much a consensus that an expired passport with the I-551 stamp, in combination with a valid passport, is enough to gain reentry. Whew, I think we are going to be just fine.

I used to be an obsessive stalker of USCIS as well (until the interview notice came in, then my interest dropped dramatically). Funny, when my company applied for an H-1B they hired an attorney and I didn't even realize anyone was working on it and then one day I would just get the approval notice and copies of everything they had filed. Can't decide which way is better, but it is kind of fun to go through the process with all you fellow Feb filers.

I'm not having fun right now!! LOL..I have a teenage daughter who I keep promising she can go for a visit..and the dates I keep promising keep slipping by(I was sure she would have had her AP by today)..I'll beable to relax once I have the AP and EAD..I'm not stressing(at least yet ) over the interview..I figure keep a little back for that one!

INTERVIEW NOTICE RECEIVED TODAY!!! The date is actually going to work out alright for us, June 3rd. Hopefully, my wife will be leaving the US to go to our religious wedding with a permanent residency stamp in her passport. Fingers crossed.

Time to start worrying about the interview. LOL.
