AOS & EAD Feb. 2008 Filers

I don't think there's any point in counting from filing date, its all about NOA date. There's so little correlation between posting and NOA - some people its 3 days, others its 8 weeks. And yet once NOAs are in, the timelines fit to a decent degree.

There are people who filed the same day as me, who got their NOAs within 2 days, who have long since got their EAD, because that initial 20 day delay was never made up.

Either way, its not something worth stressing about, its a process. the wheels will turn, you've just got a) to give it time, and B) react when you think its working outside of acceptable timelines.

and dammit, i've got to find myself a job now!!

Hi All, I am a late February filer. Have you started applying for jobs before getting your EAD? Is it ok to do that considering that if everything goes well you would have the authorization probably the same time as a job interview would be scheduled? Thanks.

well here's my update

my biometric yesterday went pretty smoothly, today i can see my AOS and EAD online, no news about AP, but still im happy coz ive been checking them since i got the NOAs, my case is at CSC, they transferred it there on the 14th, so thats another good news, keep u guys posted

Got an email from CRIS.. my husband's EAD has been processed and the card has been ordered.

i am so excited........ how long will it take for him to get the card?

also, my I-485 has been touched regularly for the past 2 days... what can i expect with that

YEA!!!! I just looked at my bank account and they cashed the check!! I'm so excited!! Does anyone know what the MSC# is?

I am FUMING right now!

I received 5 letters from USCIS, 3 NOAs and 2 biometrics letter, and my son received 2 letters, all to the same address.

So imagine my bewilderment when I get an email form CRIS saying

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Notice Returned as Undeliverable.

On March 19, 2008, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

The reference number refers to my son's application.

I just phoned USCIS and they said they don't know what was sent or when it was sent, just that something was returned??? They say they will resend whatever it was.

I called my post office and they are as clueless as I am....

So now I wonder if it was an RFE???????

When people get RFE's does it say so online???

I am hoping against hope it was a biometrics appointment for him, but he's only 7!!

by my calculations, thats 43 days from the issue date of the NOA to the issue date of the card

Did you have many touches on your application before those were approved? We have had about 5 on the 485, but nothing on the other two. Also, no touches since Friday

I have had 3 touches in a row on my AOS too. Wonder what that means. I can't see AP or EAD online.

You can take a risk and start applying, but there is no guarantee as to when you will have your EAD in hand. And if you were to get hired before you had your EAD, that would cause a fair share of problems for both you and the employer. It's better to be safe than sorry with this process i find...you never know how its all going to work out.

I had my biometrics appointment today and we were only 2 persons at the center. Done in 10 minutes! Super quick and I'm happy!

Just very quickly, how do you people know that your application has been touched? Please, be specific: does your Case Status change from "Current Status: Case Received and Pending", or does something else happen as well?

every time you look at your online cases, make a note of the date it was last updated. if that date changes without any change in status, then you've been touched.
