AOS & EAD Feb. 2008 Filers

Any advice would be great....

My AOS (and EAD renewal) was received on Feb. 19. Three weeks later, my check has not been cashed, i have not received any corresondence.

When I look at everyone's timelines it seems like checks were cashed around a week after receipt. I am obviously really nervous now.

Any insight/advice?

I'm in a similar boat (and there are others)...so you are not alone....my package got there 2/12 and I haven't heard from USCIS since then....the general advice is to wait, wait, wait...

Me being a person that will go crazy with stress by just sitting and doing nothing, scheduled an infopass appointment for next week (Monday, 3/17)....I have been told by others here that it probably won't help (and they are probably right) but I'm going to try nevertheless...what's the worst that can happen? Be insulted by an IO? This whole process (the way it is structured and operated) is an insult to all intending immigrants and, worst, the USCs involved....

I know it's frustrating and that you just need to vent but let's not exaggerate-- I bet the process (and immigration policy) in the US is a whole lot friendlier than in the countries most of us are from, my own country included. I mean, it takes a lot of us no more than a few months to get a card that basically allows us to live and work here for the rest of our lives. Of course mistakes happen and the process sometimes seems arbitrary -- this is, after all, the government -- but overall I'm pleasantly surprised by how streamlined the process seems to be.

All this said, I know I was obsessed with my online bank account and mailbox until I got the NOAs, so I can very much understand how it drives you crazy when there's this deafening silence... Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

I understand your point and I don't want to argue but "two wrongs doesn't make a right"...if other governments are less friendly, that should not serve as an excuse....either way, I definitely agree that the US has every right to meticulously analyze every case up for immigration, as they do, I just think that creating a "faceless" and nearly utter unresponsive system is an insult....as with pretty much everything else, transparency goes a long way....having said that, I'll stop complaining and resume the waiting...

Mine took 30 days before they cashed my check, there are about 3 of us this happened to...You are not alone!

It was not fun waiting for me too for about a month but it somehow takes time sometimes to get the NOA and have your checks cashed but you catch upto others if there is no RFE. Goodluck!

Hello all:

Before I post my question I just want to thank anyone associated with keeping this site going and to anyone that has helped us with info thus far.

Topic: I found an error on the I-130 I submitted. I had the incorrect DOB for my wife. I called USCIS and they put in a service request to correct the error. They said that this wouldn't slow down the case.

Question 1: Is anyone familiar with the service request process and do you know if it will cause a delay in my processing?

Topic 2: My bio appt. letters have different names for my wife. One has her "first name, middle name, maiden name", the other has "first, middle, married". Her passport and drivers license has "first, maiden-married". USCIS said they could put another service request in to change the name in the system. They also told me to talk to the people at the ASC bio appt. and they could change it.

Question 2: Should I just do the service request and have the name changed to "first, middle, married" and then change her passport and drivers license to reflect the same?

Question 3: Why do some people's cases get transferred and some do not? Does a transfer have an effect on the processing time?

I hope I haven't posted too much. Should I post this somewhere else? Just so many questions as you all know!

Does anyone know if the EAD and AP documents are sent to California when the case is transferred? We have had about 5 touches on I-485, but nothing on EAD since biometrics and nothing on AP since we filed.
