Am not sure either..you would think they would process FIFO(first in first out)...am behind on getting my bio-metrics appointment..just playing the waiting game here..

Did you send in a personal check? money order? not that it makes any difference..

Sent in personal checks (noteworthy: written out to USCIS and not US Dept of Homeland Security...my slip-up...maybe that's causing a delay?)

Acouto, on their web site, they actually ask not to make the check out to USCIS. It is just my opinion, but maybe it can cause some delay  ...

Do not stress out. :luv: It takes really long for some people. You have no reasons to be overwhelmed yet.You are up to date and doing fine. Plus, it is probably a good idea to learn to wait - in our case we have no other choice but waiting :hehe: (as you mentioned!)

Sent: February 13th.

Received: February 14th at 2:11 p.m.

Checks cashed: February 22nd.

Noa's dated February 21st : February 25th.

Biometrics appointment : March 15th.

EAD Card ordered: April 17th.

EAD approval notice sent: April 25th.

EAD card received: April 28th.

anyone know anything about working while on the K-1 visa?

From what I understand, you can work with your K-1 visa if they stamped your I-94 in your passport, but it's only good for 90 days from the date on the stamp. If you don't have your EAD by then, you must stop working until you receive it. I've also seen a few posts where people said it was difficult since most don't get a SSN right away. We are waiting for my husbands SSN now and they said it takes approx 4 weeks.

I just happen to have the letter here at work we got as a receipt from the SS office, and it does state that "as long as your immigration status allows you to work, you may legally begin employment while you await issuance of a Social Security card."

Hope this helps :)

Just in case anyone is interested:) I had my biometrics appointment today, two weeks before it was scheduled, as I'll be away on the 11th. Wednesday is the "walk in" day in Denver - not sure if it the same everywhere. It was quick and easy, I was out in 15 minutes. Yay! This was a WAY better option than re-scheduling.

I don't know if this actually speeds things up for me, or if they wait to proceed with my case until after my scheduled appointment time.

I was worried that this might mess things up for me - like perhaps I would have some kind of mix-up for not showing up to the original appointment - but I checked my case online and it has already been updated, so I think I'll be okay.

Anyways, FYI for anyone in a similar situation:)

Done with biometrics.. It took me only 20mins or less. I'm wondering why they don't allow "showing off teeth" when they took my picture. :D

I think, I picked number 3. I was on K-1 visa.

I know, that was funny! Also, I thought it was funny when the security guy was like, "Okay, please go stand next to the green stop sign". Yes, the stop sign was green. I thought it was sooooo funny that I commented about it to the reception guy when I was called. I guess he did not think that was as hilarious as I did, since he completely ignored me:). Oh well, I amuse myself...

It has to do with facial recognition.

"So how exactly does smiling hamper the facial recognition systems? "The smile alters the position and the structure of the eyes and nose, which are the three principal identification points which characterise a face," according to Thales Security and Supervision, a subsidiary of the French security and defence technologies group,"

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply yesterday Malla (got busy at work!) but I think we chose 2. They'll go over the form and take copies of the passport/visa at the SS office anyway, so you can leave it blank. They were very helpful and it only took us about 10-15 min with the SS rep..waiting for our turn to speak with the rep and turn in the forms is what took an hour, but it's a small office near here and was somewhat busy that day. They'll look at the passport and certified marriage license. Good luck
