this is for the san francisco office:

when you walk in the building, you stop by the security guard type chap, who checks your appointment letter and passport, and gives you a clipboard with a form on it, and a number. The number is your place in line. The Form asks you name, address, receipt numbers, alien numbers, height, weight, eye colour, that kind of thing.

when you get called up, you hand in the form, the technician checks it, then you wander round to the lab type area. the technician dude then types into his computer for a minute or two, puts on rubber gloves then asks you to stand up (your anxiety rate may increase at this point, but don't worry, this isn't Customs)... He sprays a watery solution on your hands, and asks you to put your fingers against a scanner type thing attached to the computer. Every finger gets scanned one by one, rolled side to side. If the clarity isn't right you do it again.

Then when the fingers are done, you sit back down, he points a cheapo webcam at you, takes a photo, asks you to smile a bit ( I always tend to scowl in passport photos ). And then he says "finished".

There was no queue when i went in, i barely had time to finish filling in the form before my number was called. total in and out time was no more than 15 minutes. dead easy

Hmm..I was confused on this as well. On the Address C/O line, I left it blank (it's blank in the sample forms on the visa journey website, i actually have no idea what this line is for)

For family name, I put my married name, because I guess that is my family name now (also very unclear). I went with this because I used my married name anywhere else my name was required. Hopefully I did it right!

Address c/o is in case you want to list an address in care of someone. Like if you live with your parents you would but their address. I left it blank. Family name: married name.

That is what they are, right, I - 797's??

I just want to make sure: teh receipt number which is in the upper left corner is the number I can use to check how we are doing online? Am I right?

Yes, the number starting with MSC is the correct one.

Oh, and i recommend creating an account on USCIS website. It makes it so much easier to check your different applications.

What's the best way to find out what's going on with the process? InfoPass, online, by mail?

I got a RIE(REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE)

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. they even put our EAD processing on hold until I mail the required documents. they are asking for the following 3 things

1. I-1864A...signed by the petitioner(me). my parents are our co-sponsors and I had them fill out an I-1864A, and I am more than positive that I signed the form along with them.

2. The are requesting proof of legal residency of my co-sponsors.

3. Proof of my co-sponsors current employment....... what should i send for this???

any more suggestions.
