I have a question for ya! Which POE do you use? I have always used the Blaine one but I have heard of a less frequented one.

Hubby and I are crossing the border on Sunday...So excited!

Generally I've used the Sumas - Abbotsford crossing. When I first came down here, we were living about 10 mins directly South of there. So it was the logical crossing for me. I've only ever had to wait 30 mins Southbound at Sumas once - and that was a Friday night.

Now that we've moved down to the island, I still use Sumas sometimes because I know the lineups are usually short or nonexistent. The Canadians did ask me why I was crossing 'at this crossing', the other day. From my experience, it's relatively common for either side to ask why you are using that particular crossing.

On the way back the truck was heavily loaded, so I took the more direct route and went through the Truck Crossing at Blaine. It was Thursday night, so there was not really a lineup, 3 or 4 cars ahead of me.

There is another very small crossing at Lynden - Aldergrove. If I remember correctly, it's straight north on Meridian from Bellingham.

Have fun on Sunday! :D

Hello, I had a question about the EAD process. Does anyone know if while waiting for your work permit to come through, you can actually work? My Fiance is coming over next year on a K-1 visa, and was wanting to wait until after we are married to apply for a work permit. We are wondering if while in the process of waiting for the paperwork to come through, you have to wait to start working or if there is any chance that an employer would allow you to work on a limited basis while waiting for the papers?

Please help, we are hoping he doesn't have to wait the expected 90 day process. It wouldn't change much in the grand scheme of things, but it would put our minds at ease a bit

We finally received our interview notice for 01/06/09. This was about time too since I was starting to get really worried. Over the past two days I made calls to USCIS customer service (who were no help), talked to my lawyer, and increased my consumption of anti-anxiety medication!!!

We will complete 2 years of marriage in December so hopefully the interview will be smooth and my GC will not be conditional.

Congrats! Make sure you get the 10 years green card not the two years. The law is very specific in this regard.

NOTHING!!! We're officially outside of 'normal' processing time since Atlanta is working cases March 27, 2008. At this time I can 'technically' contact the OBUDSMAN. I'm wondering if I should. A fellow VJr in Colombia Club did it and he and his wife got their interview right away.

Is there anyone here left from Atlanta that hasn't been interviewed? Are we alone???? Its getting lonely out here.
