We got a bottle of Mumm's from our realtor when we bought our house, but never got around to having it when we moved in. We bought a bottle of Brut Imperial for our Anniversary, but ended up only having the Mumm's. So we said, once we had the GC, it was time for the Brut Imperial! Yum!

When is your anniversary?

Will you still be hanging out on the forum now that you have your green card?

Are you going for citizenship?

Congrats Visionhaze, you will notice that you don't know what to do with yourself now that this part is over. Running to the mailbox isn't as exciting as it used to be lol...

Hi Lili,

Our anniversary was in the summer.

I'll probably hang out here for a bit, but now that I've got my GC, I should try and get on with things around here. I've got to go to Canada visit my family and get all the stuff I left behind.

So far my plan is to apply for Naturalization when I'm eligible. That way if we decided to go back to the original plan, of living in Canada, we could and it would not affect any future we would have in the US.

I'm expecting that the Mail Person will not be as popular with me anymore either - all she's going to do now is deliver bills! ;)

Dear All,

Finally after forever, i got an interview letter in a mail today. It is scheduled on Thursday Dec 11. I hope everything will go well just like a lot of us here.

01/2003: Came to US(F1 visa)

02/2006: Started dating with my USC husband in CA.

06/2006: He moved to IL. I was on OPT (F1 at that time)

10/2006: I relocated to IL, and moved in with my husband.

09/2007: OPT ended. I went out of the US.

10/2007: I came back to the US on H1B.

01/2008: We got married.

02/07/2008: We filed I130/I485 package to USCIS

03/07/2008: NOA for all applications

03/27/2008: Fingerprinting was done.

04/08/2008: I got AP in the mail.

04/15/2008: I got EAD in the mail.

11/05/2008: Interview letter received in a mail

12/11/2008: Interview date

Dear all,

I have a question. I was going through the list of documents stated in the interview letter. One of the list is Birth Certificate of my husband(citizen by naturalization). He is afraid he has somehow lost the original copy in our native language. I wonder if this is going to create a problem at interview. In fact, I don't think this was required when I filed I-130 and I-485.

Would anyone please share your experience about this issue?

Witty Marmelade, I was told by a lawyer that we need my husband's BC for the interview, even though he is a citizen by naturalization... You still have a month until your interview, maybe a friend or a family member from his homecountry can send you his original copy of BC?

Hi Ella,

I was thinking about this as well. However, ironically his family in Thailand might not be helpful. That is why i am worried if this is going to cause me a problem. I wonder what if he can show his passport and his naturalization certificate instead..

Hi everyone and again congratulations for all the good news. I just wanted to let you know that on Saturday, I made my planned trip to Canada. I didn't have aa Canadian visa, but showed the Canadian customs my Advance Parole document for USA, and I let them know that I only want to spend 24 hours in Canada to participate in a team handball tournament. Canadian IO read through the AP document, stamped my passport and let me in.

On my way back, I had the U.S. customs stamp my AP and I was welcomed back.

Just to remind, I already had my interview on 10/17, and lady that interviewed us said we were approved (or "suggested for approval"). Status not yet changed on USCIS website since biometrics. AP obviously was still valid.

This is interesting, because technically without green card ou a canadian visa they would not let someone to go there...

One thing that the officer told me in my interview was that I could not use the AP anymore, that I could not let the country until I receive my greencard...Until now nothing change in the USCIS site..so I don't know if (just in case) I use the AP for to travel is ok or not! He told me to not use the AP at all.

Yeah, and I can't really guarantee that everything would be fine if you used AP... I took a little bit of a risk. But, I did call USCIS. If I was you and I had to travel, I would call USCIS, and have them confirm that AP is still valid (without mentioning what officer told me). I would record what USCIS tells me over the phone and bring that with me.

u2rsobad,

Today's going to be your day!

ShadowYu,

I'm glad your trip to Canada went okay. Sometimes the Canadian border guards can be nice and sometimes, not so much.

Is your online status still the same? Didn't you interview on the 17th too? C'mon Seattle!

Ali e Jeff,

Has your online status changed? If not, I can't imagine that they've cancelled your AP. I specifically asked the IO at the interview if I should still use the AP if I needed to go back to Canada and he said yes, everything is just the same as it has been until you get your GC. If your AP is no longer valid, why didn't they didn't take it from you at the interview? Weird.
