Wow! believe it or not (I still can't!) we finally got our interview notice on Friday night!! :dancing::dancing::dancing: We're scheduled for October 24th also. (Maybe we can meet teachmehistory!) Kinda sucks though..right now they won't let me off work the whole day and they are sending us to Seattle instead of Portland for the interview. Everything else has been handled in Portland (15 min from home), but it's a 3 1/2 hour drive one-way to Seattle, and my car won't make it. I'll have to borrow a family member's car or rent one, so this is working out to be a very expensive interview. I called USCIS and they said that there must be a mistake about the interview location, but they won't do anything about it.

It's somewhat of a logistical nightmare for us right now, but we'll be happy if we can get it done and over with. They said the only way to make any possible changes to the interview location, is to make an info pass appt., but doesn't that take about a month to get the appt.? Plus, I'm worried that if I try to change anything they'll really screw things up considering it took them this long to get this far!

K-1 Timeline:

May 31, 2007 - Mailed I-129F to Nebraska

Oct. 22, 2007 - NOA2 Hard Copy received!! No email/website update.

Nov. 16, 2007 - Paperwork found & received by NVC!

Jan. 7, 2008 - Finally got the interview date

Jan. 28, 2008 - Interview!! Approved!!!

Feb. 12, 2008 - Arrives in USA!!!

Feb. 18, 2008 - Wedding Day!!!!!!

Feb. 19, 2008 - Apply for SSN

I really wouldn't try to change the location/time/date. I know it's out of your way but you have been waiting for this day for a long time and you will make it work one way or another. :)

I don't really want to change it (the problem with the location is one thing), but as of right now, I cannot get the time off work from my main job that day, as they are too short handed. If it was in Portland, I could probably leave for an hour or two, but instead, I need the whole day to get there and back. I'm already going up the chain of command with it, but so far no luck yet. :(

Witty Marmelade, ask for specific questions at your infopass. And if things aren't moving, please get your congressman involved!

Silly question, but i honestly don't know about how people do this. I have seen people asking help from their congressmen. I really have no idea how they do that.

How would I get a congressman involved then?? I do not know whom i should contact or where to start... Any suggestions? :wacko:

01/2003: Came to US(F1 visa)

02/2006: Started dating with my USC husband in CA.

06/2006: He moved to IL. I was on OPT (F1 at that time)

10/2006: I relocated to IL, and moved in with my husband.

09/2007: OPT ended. I went out of the US.

10/2007: I came back to the US on H1B.

01/2008: We got married.

02/07/2008: We filed I130/I485 package to USCIS

03/07/2008: NOA for all applications

03/27/2008: Fingerprinting was done.

04/08/2008: I got AP in the mail.

04/15/2008: I got EAD in the mail.

Your congressman is there to help you to communicate and get help with a federal agency. They basically make inquiries on your behalf.

Any inquiry that USCIS received from a congressman needs to be answered within 2 days, I believe (don't quote me on that!).

They usually are able to get information about where you stand. But most of the time, you can get help with an Infopass. If this doesn't lead to anywhere, then yes do get your congressman involved.

I was checking on the USCIS website, cincinnati now is working on March 20. My case was received on Feb 19. Should I be panic? Do I need to call USCIS to get an update??

good luck. I just had mine this morning in LA.

mine went very smoothly but had to wait about 1 1/2 hour. interview was only about 3 min.

I-129f Process

03-19-2007 I-129f sent to CSC.

03-22-2007 CSC received my package.

03-29-2007 Check cashed.

06-07-2007 NOA2

06-27-2007 NVC received my package from CSC.

07-09-2007 Packet 3 received via email.
