do you have to file ead separately and is the cost ($1010) just for aos or aos and ead together?

You file AOS, EAD and AP together when you submit your AOS packet and the total cost is $1010 regardless if you file EAD and AP.

had the interivew this morning was approved :)

There now follows my rather long-winded write-up...

we got there early - 7.15 am for a 7.45 am interview - but were allowed in, and sat in the waiting room. CNN was on TV. I learned about something called "Stagflation". Anyway, at the entrance there was a sign inviting AOS interviewees to place their appointment letter in the inbox to the right of the sign. We'd got there before the inbox opening cermeony had been performed, though, so we just sat down and waited. We watched all the officers arriving to work, starbucks in hand, already looking somewhat deflated and beaten down. I suspected they'd also just heard about the stagflation. As soon as the office window opened, and the officer / reception lady put the "inbox" on the windowsill, I walked over and placed my appoointment letter in it (neatly, to make a good impression). After i'd sat down again, she took the letter out the box, ran it through some kind of super-computer, then placed it on a shelf to the side of the window. Her role in the story was complete.

Then, after about 15 minutes, a bloke walked down the corridor, picked up my appointment letter, and then disappeared into the gents toilet. The wife wondered out loud whether that was his office...

After a short interval he emerged, the letter still in his hand, and disappeared back down the corridor. By now there were three or four other groups of people, including one highly shifty looking character who I immediately branded a lawyer. Using my foot, I surrepticiously hooked my bag under my chair.

I was called at around 7.55, by the man i'd seen earlier. We followed him down the corridor into his (real) office, where we were shown to our alloted seats. We stood up, and were sworn in. The swearing in process, by the way, is a simple "do you swear to tell the truth?". I was expecting something a little more flambouyant. I hesitated breifly, and submitted that I would.

There then followed a fast-paced period of paperwork passing - he would ask for some item of paperwork: state ID, EAD, AP, tax returns, payslips, employment letters, and I'd see how quickly I could locate it in my file and pass it accross the desk. I stumbled momentarily on the wife's latest pay stub - they were out of order - but otherwise completed that round with good scores.

Next, he tried to catch me off-guard by asking me the wife's birthday. Fortunately, I remember this date, because that is the annual deadline to have thought of something interesting to buy her.

Then he asked about our recent trip to the UK, compared a few dates with a few other forms, all seemed to tally. He then wanted - quote - anything that is in both your names. A bank statement, appartment lease, and car registration silenced him. He then followed up with a quickfire demand for photos - I overwhelmed him with wedding photos; three whole sets. He then pulled a cracking anti-fraud trick - he took a random photo and asked me who was in it! Fortunately it was my mother-in-law, a face that has long since burned its likeness onto my brain. My wife successfully identified my dad in another photo. Was this the last round? Could this be a victory?

There was one more trick up his sleeve, he asked again about the reason for the recent flight back to the UK (my bro's wedding). Having cleared that final hurdle, he announced in a suitably clear voice, whilst simultaneously placing a large red stamp on some random piece of official documentation, that he was Approving My Application.

The rest of the speech was a blur for me, months of fretting about forms, tax returns, employment letters has slipped away. in 21 months time I have to give a damn again, and resume the paper location game, but for the moment I'm free :)

had the interivew this morning was approved :)

Will you be selling the rights to HBO for a made-for-tv special? If so, I really think you need to add some extra detail...this review is a *bit* vague. There was no description of the man's clothing, or the decor in his office, for example. How did you feel when he stamped your passport? Was the experience all you had hoped for??

Congratulations on your approval, despite the slapdash review

This was (unbelievably) an even more informative review than my own...
