Okay I think I am ready to mail out the AOS packet but want to make sure I have everything. What do you think?

Cover letter

• Check Number x in the amount of $1,010.00 made payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security

• G-325A, Biographic Information

• I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

• Copy of Approved I-130 - Petition for Relative

• Copy of Immigrant’s Passport

• Copy of Immigrant’s K-3

• Copy of Immigrant’s ’s I-94

• Copy of Immigrant’s Translated Birth Certificate

• Certified Copy of Marriage License

• 2 passport-type photos

• I-693A - Sealed

• I-864EZ, Affidavit of Support with Attachment

• 2007 Federal Tax Returns with W2s and 1099s

• Employment Verification Letter

I may be mistaken, but I think you also need a copy of the immigrant's birth certificate in the original language....(I sent mine in just in case)...

You could file for EAD and AP. It is included in the $1,010. You never know how long it might take for your AOS to be approved (though i wish you good luck!!).

Otherwise, it looks good.

Hubby has a K3 Visa which allows for travel. It's good through 4/09. We already applied for and received the EAD last year. :) Thanks.

I didn't know that you could travel on the K3 Visa. I guess you learn something new everyday. :blush: Thanks.

LOL Yes Lili the K-3 is a multiple entry visa. You can travel up until your visa expires which is 2 years. :)

I have a question.

My husband came here on a K1. We married (legally) January 11th and now have the marriage certificate. I have already gotten my driver's license in my new name and have applied to get a replacement SS card. On the I485 and on the 864, do I need to list myself with my maiden name or my new name? Do I need to wait for SSA to issue me my new card? Will it be a problem if I sign either way? :help:

I would def use your new married name. SS cards usually take a week or two to arrive. :)

I would def use your new married name. SS cards usually take a week or two to arrive. :)

I went with my married name as well, that is the name they will have for you in the system.

Also what is the alien registration number and where is it located? The reason I ask is because there are questions on the forms where I have to fill that in and I don't know if I have one

Is it o n the visa? the NOA2?

If you are maling an I-485 (AOS) and an I-765 (Employment authorization) do you send one check for the total amount or two separate checks for each form?

The fee for I-765 is already included in I-485's fee ($1,010). In short, do not pay for I-765 as you already pay for it in I-485.

The $1,010 is for the entire packet (I-485, I-765, I-131 and Biometrics). The Alien Registration number is a number assigned to an immigrant. It starts with an A.
