According to my lawyer, USCIS is under a lot of (political) pressure to process several thousand naturalization cases as a priority since this is election year and the pending naturalization candidates are all potential votes. Because of this, other USCIS work will take a lower priority.

The above is the personal opinion of my lawyer - not a general opinion, but I wanted to share this with the rest of the group in case anyone was interested.

ashleyandjonoz congrats on the new addition to your family. It makes sense that it being an election year that the naturalization cases would take priority for political reasons. It seems that some people get a few touches then nothing again for a while so I am sure that everyone will get touches soon, I am hoping all we Feb filers get approved within the next few months.

Thank you everyone!!! It was perfect timing actually. My husband had a job offer in February but could not accept because he didn't have the EAD, then my son was born 3 weeks early and my husband received the EAD a few days before he was born. Now he gets to spend the first month or so helping with the baby before he starts his new job. I guess everything happens for a reason!

thats what im thinkin too, and i bet most of it has to do with the fact that they are pressuring the FBI to complete all the backlogged background and name checks for naturalization and so they are leaving everything else aside and since there not cleared yet no interviews are being scheduled, and even if you have an interview scheduled, seems most people lately have been told there background check has not cleared. i dont see most of us getting interviews til late this year or early next year. i dont really care as long as its before the ead and AP expire. and for those of you that didnt file EAD and AP, its not too late, i would do that if i was u.
