Ok so I'm just trying to figure out what USCIS is actually DOING these days ... I'm guessing "not much" ... but it appears that VSC is now processing early July ...

NOW - logic would suggest that once they get through July the # of apps should decrease (per month I mean) since people revved up the filing in order to beat the fee hike...

Would I be completely delusional to apply logic one step further here and postulate that the process would SPEED UP once they get through July, as a result??? (They are on July 6, 2007 at VSC and somehow CSC has caught up and passed VSC because they are on July 15, 2007)

I am referring to I-130s for spouses, by the way ...

Someone please let me know if I should even try to apply this logic lol

(mods you can move this to IR1/CR1 thread if you don't want it in K3, although it applies to both kinda)

think of it this way-

Person A gives you 20 potatoes to peel in one hour.

1 hour later Person A gives you 200 potatoes to peel in the same amount of time.

In the 3rd hour Person A gives you 20 potatoes to peel.

Do you think you will catch up by the 4th hour?

--or am I delusional?

I'm saying this cuz I've worked in mailroom situations where its near impossible to "catch up" And then throw in constantly changing rules--geez gotta give em a break. They are human and will also make mistakes.

I-130

Looking at the speed with which people are getting checks cashed and receiving NOA's it seems I wasn't totally delusional and logic, heaven forbid, actually applied to USCIS for once ...

Hoping to have my check cashed ASAP (or if they are sending back the forms they would be at my door in a day or two)

I see you filed shortly after I did, and I just got my NOA1 yesterday. A few peeps in the January bunch are getting theirs as well, so I'll bet yours will be coming 'perhaps' next week - of course since there are people who filed in Oct and still haven't gotten theirs I could be wrong(hope not) but hopefully you will get good news next week...

a good point, but when you are getting paid to "catch up" you do catch up,it is how it works in the real world.USCIS seems to not be in the real world,Yes,we all make mistakes, and USCIS made some mistakes....the problem is...they are not admitting it(at least not to us)......Mistakes were made.....FIX em, thats how it works in the real world, and after all,i don't know about you,but their service wasn't free !!!! I paid for this crappy service.

and thats what it is crappy service,i mean we all know this is a long journey, but they just made a long journey, even longer.....give them a break? are they giving you a break?....just something to think about.

USCIS will catch up eventually, what we do not know is how many months it will take.

Bare in mind they were hiring more staff due to the backlog so. once the main part of the backlog is over with, the extra staff should continue to work through the petitions and catch up a bit at a time.

The logic about the potatoes would have been spot-on, except the fact that they bought in an extra person to assist :) They still wouldn't catch up by the 4th hour but they would catch up a lot faster with 2 instead of 1 ;)

Only when the July people have gone completely through the system will things speed up. Getting July+ into the NOA1 state used extra labor. So now we have a glut of people at the NOA1 stage. Each stage will be slower until the July Visas are approved or denied. Depending on how many people rushed to get their applications in with mistakes and how many RFEs there are, there could be residual issues for some time.
