I am filling up the I-131, they ask me to explain on a sheet separately what my conditions are and why i need the advance parole.

I might need it in case i go to Italy for Christmas this year.

Do i have to sign the I-131 by part 8?

What do i have to write on the sheet?

Im going through the same thing...it is so annoying..anyways, I did sign part 8 only. Also, I explained on a separate sheet several reasons why I would like to have permission to travel outside the US, until my AOS application is finished.

First, a wedding this year. Second, in case of emergency I would like to have the opportunity to leave, e.g. death of a close family member - just in case

For AP in family based cases you do not need to explain reason for filing other than "To visit family while I-485 is pending"

US Citizen does not sign I-131, the person requesting AP does, that is the foreign citizen.
