That is weird. They just took all the info from Claudeth when she did her name change and waited for the USCIS to verify before re-issuing the card in her married name.

When I received my EAD card I waited for one week to apply for SSN. When I went to SSA office the officer told me that my name wasn't on the system yet, but she accepted my application and she told me to wait for three weeks for my SSN to arrived. Two weeks past after my SSN application I called the Lee Summit's office and ask how long should I wait to have my name to be in the SSA system? The lady who answered my call telling me to call my local SSA to update their system coz my name was already on it. I called the SSA a few times but couldn't speak to the person who handle my application. She didn't answered my calls so what I did was just leaving a message to her voice mail. A day or two after calling the SSA I got a letter telling me that they processed my application and then after three days I received my SSN in the mail.

I would say that your husband's name was already on the system. The SSA really needs to update their system. He (your husband) can ask them to do that. Either he can go back there again and bring his application and documents or he can call them.

In my own experienced dealing with the government was so a pain! They are very slow, slower than turtle! ;)

That is not correct. They should have taken the application. Not that big of a deal if you want to give it more time since the EAD card is good for a year, but I wouldn't exspect anything to have changed when you go back.

Same thing happened to me. I went to the office a day after my EAD arrived and was told my immigration status was not in the system and to come back in ten days. Thanks to MD youngs info I insisted that I do not need to come back, that they can manually verify the info instead. The woman reluctantly took my papers from me and 7 weeks later I got my new card.
