I have to agree.

If I started referring to myself as a "kike" or a "hymie" or a "sheister," how could I possibly be surprised and/or offended if and when other people began doing the same? As a Jew, I'd need to set an example of what's okay and what's not okay to call Jews in general.

The same holds true with African Americans. If they set an example by calling each other derogatory terms, they can't turn around and play the "race card" when someone who isn't black does so as well. It's their fault in this instance. If they want those ethnic slurs to disappear, then they need to take the first step.

One thing I will say about this - those sorts of derogatory labels, like "***" do say something about how certain subsets of the black community view themselves and how, for example, gang lifestyles are celebrated.

People have said that its the external manifestations of this (i.e. rap music) that feeds this sort of thing - I'm of the view that it isn't quite so clear cut. Obviously glamorisation in the media plays a role in that, but the perceptions of what a black inner city kid can and should aspire to are already there and ingrained. My impression is that the black community at large are generally appalled by this.

I doubt its even an issue - and yes, there is a difference between a linguistic misunderstanding and a word thats concocted and used with a specifically negative or pejorative intent in mind.

So let me get this straight. If someone black calls someone else black a #######. That is ok. But if someone like myself who has only been here for 2 years hears this and uses the same word to address the same person; I should be branded a racist, right?

Assisting one another and acquiring strength in numbers is by no means a "liberals-only" ideal. Conservatives do it as well, as do most human beings (and many animals). So I see nothing wrong with this behavior.

I would instead say that someone is "insecure" if they refuse help, even if (and when) they need it.

The problem with liberals is that they're sort of a bunch of malcontents and whiners, but they seem to be pissed-off about too many different things. Maybe that's why the Democrat Party couldn't come with anyone better than Hillary or Obama. There must be a better candidate somewhere within their ranks, no?

I hate it any time ANYONE uses that particular word. My point is if it is so offensive then everyone should drop it from their vocabulary. That includes "Recording Artists".
