So in one of my moments of self pity, whining about how long its been since ive seen my woman I thought up a half brained idea and wonderd if anyone ever tried it.

Fiancé Y trades passports with her friend Z who has a visa for this coming month and goes in her place. Needless to say Y and Z look very much alike. Z then in turn goes in Y's place to the interview and aces it of course (cuz thats the way things work in my head lol) once Y arrives in the US , they trade passports back and we all live happily ever after.

Has it been done, could it be?

I hate all this waiting :crying:

.... and then Y has her fingerprints taken for AOS and they find a material misrepresentation since they don't match the fingerprint taken at the interview and she is deported and banned for life. Hmmm ... seems appropriate.

'lil bit illegal'? Is that like being 'a bit pregnant'? Or 'partly dead'??

Anyone trying this would be INSANE IMO. You are asking to be banned and deported - not to mention being criminally charged.

Ive seen this done on an episode of 'Airport' - and the people were found out - because thats what happens when you try and play the system. They were deported (as they should have been) and the passport was seized. They also contacted the Embassy for the country involved and while we didn't find out on the prog what happened when the person returned to their home country I can't imagine it was anything 'fun'.

I sincerely hope you were just joking.

Since Y is from Russia... just have her uncle's cousin's friend from down the street's roommate's best friend's older brother (who used to be FSB) who now works "down by the docks" get your girl a visa. I've heard that our friend George Washington still has a little fan base in Russia, and if you get enough of those dead presidents together, anyone can get an "expedited" visa.

The whole K-1/K-3 thing has nothing to do with Russians though, but maybe your girl could get another (student, work) visa more quickly.

My advice though... in all seriousness.... chill out. It really doesn't take that long. 6 months. Maybe a year. That's not that long. If you miss her that bad, hop on Aeroflot. You could be there tomorrow. (Once again though, that's the dead presidents thing...)

The X and Y switch... that always works in the movies.... but in real life.... well, you know why we're not all movie stars!

First off let me start out by saying that this in no way would ever be done by my fiancé, this was just a "what if" kinda topic, as you could see in my original thread in the first sentence.

To set some minds at rest, my fiancé and I will not be going the illegal rout. I go to visit her every 6 weeks or so, we have a lawyer that is handling our K1 process.

Actually though if your really interested in what got me thinking along sides of the dark side, was watching the news about how all these illegal immigrants come here from Mexico, set up camp , dont get deported and 6 years later get full citizenship.

Here we are doing the legal rout and many of us have to wait 6months to a year just to enter the country while they just hop over a fence . Needless to say it irks me.

Thanks for all the fun replies though, most were very amusing

Voyager, are you serious? I remember AKDiver was talking about his wife bringing $ 50,000 in cash with her. You shocked me a bit with that one. Why would they arrest him if she stole the money?
