I got my vaccinations before my medical...in Canada the vaccines I needed were free because they are suggested by the health authorities here. It makes things easier if your fiance gets things done before the medical because the doctor might charge her alot of $ for the vaccines. Hope this helps!

On the NVC website they have a list of vaccines required for immigrant visas.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1331.html

I know the fiance(e) visa is not technically an "immigrant" visa, but my fiancee and I used this as a guide for what we thought she'd need to get. As to whether your fiance should get his vaccinations prior to the medical exam...my fiancee already had many of them, I'm not even sure she showed proof, but if you can get it more cheaply and can show proof, I don't see there being a problem in going that route.

Good luck!

My fiancee had her medical on Monday. At 8:00am she had blood taken and an x-ray. She was given an appointment for 4:45pm when she talked to the doctor(I forget what they talked about). She then had a shot, she only needed a flu shot. She daughter need three, flu and two others. We then returned at 8:00pm to pickup the blood test results and x-rays which were in a sealed envelope and told they could only be open by the embassy. I think we paid $100 for the shots(sorry i have a bad memory). Hope this helps.
