Depends on field office, I was allowed into Buffalo field office, most allow one companion to accompany prospective immigrant, because prospective immigrant may not be able to drive to the field office.

I know. appt letter says only if the applicant has to be driven to the office but I can drive myself. maybe i should just leave him out and not cost him a day off. i'm a little terrified of having the kids with me after my experience at the montreal consulate and 3 hour wait.

My biometrics invitation specifically asked me not to bring anybody (unless absolutely needed for translation or something similar) due to limited space and seating opportunities in the office. But since the whole appoinment will be done in about 15 minutes (mine was), your husband and kids can simply wait outside in the car, if USCIS refuses to let them in.

I went with Andre cause he didn't drive at the time. They let me in.

They do have signs up that say if the room is too full, anyone not there for their own biometrics may be asked to leave. If that had been the case, there was a cafeteria in the building I would've gone to hang out at.

It took maybe 10 minutes total. As long as you are at the front of the line and fill out the paper quickly, it takes no time at all.

You can be there if your spouse needs translations right? or can't fill out the paperwork himself?

Just got the letter and am a little worried since he can't really read english very well

Me and my husband (USC) waited in line outside for 30 min. Once we got to the door I was let in but he was not. He had to wait outside in the rain for me for about 1 hour (despite plenty of available seats inside).

My husband went with me to my biometrics. We had no problems. He went inside with me the only time he was not with me was when I got my fingerprints and photo taken. Other people had husbands or wifes with them too.

I was allowed in the building with my husband. As shown by the other posts made in this thread, it depends on the local office. I would suggest calling to find out their policy. :)
