Hello,

Is there anyone else that has filed their AOS in Atlanta????

They are currently 10 months past our date and we still have not heard anything other than a letter stating the interview in this case has been cancelled. We never received an interview notice to begin with and phoned to check only to be told that the interview was cancelled and we would be notified if a new interview is scheduled. After our date was past 30 days from the date showing on the website we called and were told that they would check on our case status and to allow 30 days for a response. We received a letter back saying that the interview in our case was cancelled and that we will be notified if the interview is rescheduled. I would be really interested to hear from anyone else that is in the Atlanta area that may of been through a situation like this or is anyone else out there in the Atlanta area so far past their received date for AOS??????

Please HELP.

Thanks,

Debby.

Hi Deb,

Under your circumstances, I would make an infopass appointment as soon as possible. You need to speak to someone who can tell you more than just the statement that your interview was cancelled. Good luck.

Kathryn,

Thanks for the reply. I called the information line yesterday and they said that as the interview had been cancelled there was nothing they could do for me. Well that caused me to go into a real panic ending with a call to 911. I ended up in the emergency room after suffering chest pains. What a fun day it all was first trip in an ambulance and first time in a US hospital. Then after my husband flying home from his work to come to the hospital we got home last night where I had been told to rest. While sitting out on our deck I got a huge splinter in my foot so last night it was off to the doctors to have injections in my foot and the very large splinter cut out. Yesterday all in all was not good. I think I need to try to stop panicing for a bit over AOS.

Debby,

I'm so sorry to hear about your stress and the medical issues! I hope that you find yourself some peace and tranquility this weekend. With regards to Atlanta being utterly confounding in their cryptic messages to you... If you can, I would still try to get an Infopass appointment. With all due respect, unless the information line is directly to the district office, I'm inclined to put more trust and veracity in a face-to-face meeting with an immigration officer who can review your case on the computer or whatever have you. They can also possibly give more concrete information about your case.

Something you might do is bring your old USCIS interview notice. At the bottom is a number (under the address of the building) that should be your immigration officer. It's possible that you might find out if the officer has taken sick leave, quit, etc? Maybe that had something to do with your case being shuffled... though if you're lucky, maybe it went to California. ;)

In any event, if it's not too much out of your way, I think that the satisfaction of at least learning the reason why might be sufficient to put some calm back in your day.

Heather,

Thanks, I think our next step needs to be to schedule an INFOPASS appointment. I am trying to just take it easy and not spend all my time thinking about it all. My biggest worry was that I would be booted out of the country or something but my husband has said that there is no way that would happen and that he would hire an attorney if anything like that were to happen but he has said that we have done everything right and that we have nothing to worry about. Today he has taken me out for the day so we could just chill out for a bit together which was really nice and I feel a lot better.
