My Fiancee sent out for the police certificates ... "How long doe it take?"' She lives in Rio de Janeriro.

Thanks to anyone who could give me an idea !!

I'd guess a couple of weeks. My husband is from Manaus and he got the certificate from the state that day and I think maybe he had to wait a few days for the one from the federal police, but I remember hearing that Rio could take longer. Why don't you ask in the Latin American forums - there are more Brazilians there.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

depends on several things... 1) amount of files to process, 2)time of year, 3) AND... the extent of criminal background that person has.. for me, when i filed my application right before xmas, i got my police check within a week

I agree, it depends on the country, more than those other things.

My gal is Brasilian and we live in Israel... She had to get her police certs from Rio but you have to get them in person she was told. Fortunately, her mom works for the State of Rio (it is a city and a state) and knew some people. there is a very specific report from the police that you need... I know that the consulate in Rio will tell which one it is
