It was absolutely terrifying here. Greencastle had the highest wind speeds recorded in the whole of Indiana (at time of typing). 81mph. We were sitting there watching a DVD when suddenly the house started creaking and groaning, the windows started to make cracking sounds and the noise, oh my flippin' gawds, scary. I thought the roof was lifting off. Add to that hail, torrential rain and thunderstorms too, ick.

All I could think was how the hell am I going to herd 7 cats into the basement in 2 cat carriers...:P

Platy has just gone to check that his Mom's place still has a roof and says the town looks bad; siding off houses, shingles strewn everywhere, store signs gone etc etc Plus the temps went from 55f to 29f in about 30 minutes and now it is sleeting and starting to snow!

American weather...I'm never going to get used to it.

Oh and a tornado was reported 12 miles north of Indy too. :(

sounds like typical kansas weather to me

We get bizarre weather here in Indiana too, but we've not had winds this strong for a long time (so hubby informs me). Plus the house is old, I get scared how well it will hold up. :P

I've been watching that system move across the States most of the evening - it is scheduled to hit us around midnight with thunder, high winds and the temperature plummeting. Apparently there have been 50 degree drops of temperature with the cold front's arrival. The high wind forecast isn't quite as high for where we are but the temperature will fall by 40 degrees overnight - although clear skies are following the system - clear and cold.

I hope all of you in this storm's path are safe and sound.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I just had the extreme pleasure of driving 30 miles in this nastiness.. (had to come home from work...) There were too many times to count where i couldnt see the road at all and could barely see 3 inches in front of my windshield. I was sure I was going to end up in a ditch somewhere... I have no idea on the damage around here, but there was a pretty big tree on the road down the street from us (there was a police car sitting in front of it so no one ran into it) I'm just glad and thankful to have made it home safe. Thank you God.

it was 73 in alton..dropped to 23 in about an hour ..winds gusts of 53 mph..snow...

i saw the 4 riders of the Apocalypse in the park

Ha ha..............this is very funny.

73 in the a.m. 12 by the time I went to bed. I love how we went from tornado warnings and gale force winds to snow in the snap of a finger. It was all kind of scary last night.

I have lived here all my life and I swear I will never get used to the wacky midwest weather.

It's so beautiful, yet cold, here today. Hard to believe the snow is going to bury us tomorrow night.

China is having extreme whether, apparantly. I saw a clip of some 500,000 migrant workers stuck in one city because the trains stopped running. The crowding was terrifying.
