There is no Embassy information listed on this site for Tashkent Uzbekistan and I haven't found any other references to anyone with a Fiancée from Uzbekistan. We are very early in the process and would greatly appreciate any specific inside “tips’.

We have managed to avoid a lot of extra costs and delays that others seem to have experienced. I will be happy to share how, including detailed check lists to get things right the first time and why we investigated server attorney option and decided it was better for us not to use an attorney.

I'm curious, what "extra costs" and "delays" did others experience that you have not? Please, do share your detailed checklist for getting things right the first time. That's what this forum is about...the sharing of information regarding the K-1 visa process, in the hopes that it will benefit others in the future. :)

Good luck w/ the remainder of your jouney.

What is it exactly that you're looking for? The website for the Uzbekistan embassy is here. You'll probably find some specific information there for when your fiance is ready to interview. Before that, it's all pretty much the same process for everyone.

Unless you "manage to avoid a lot of extra costs and delays that others seem to have experienced". ;)

I'm seriously curious about this. Given that the OP states they're very early in the process (NOA1 received on 12/17/07 according to their VJ timeline) what extra costs and delays have others here experienced that the OP has managed to avoid?

The overall interview was fine. The woman who interviewed my fiancee was very nice and asked questions about how we met and about our relationship. Not difficult at all, but wanted good proof of our relationship such as money transfer receipts, letters, and such. She saw that other consulate interviewers were not as pleasant to talk to, and that another K1 fiancee did not get her visa for some unknown reason (said something about financial support document). Her overall experience was negative on the tight security and the long wait, both outside in freezing weather for several hours and inside. I think overall, she was there for 4+ hours, while the interview took only 10 to 15 minutes. Extremely happy it is over and done with!!

the interview went very well and the woman spoke fluent Russian. She asked many questions and really wanted to verify that there was substance to the relationship.

My girl is Russian not Uzbek so I think that counted in her favor as well.

Overall it was a very good interview and the emabssy personnel are very kind and friendly. Just come to the itnerview with a good attitude and all your info. You should be out of there within a couple of hours and then return in a few days for your visa!

Keep the comments coming.

We are waiting for the packet to arrive at the Uzbek embassy. We are probably unique in that we are not in that big of a hurry. Her daughter is in school and we don't want to yank her out too early. Would have been great if they could have made it last year for income tax purposes!! :)

We have done everything ourselves..only money spent on filing fees. It can be done without lawyers.

For Us in Uzbekistan it has been ***. Evrything went through smooth here in US and after the embassy got out packet in Uzbekistan it has been frustrating. The Interview was scheduled and before my fiance even met the Consular something was wrong with my Documents, I sent a certified copy of my divorce to my fiance with all the proper papers , but this was not good enough, They want ORIGINAL. So I send her my original for 106 Dollars using DHL 4 day service, Well she gets the documents just in time, She goes to her appointment on Tuesday at 8AM , she said there must have been 10 other people that had the same appointment , So 3 hours later she gets called in and the 2 Lady consulars drilled her like she was a criminal. How she met me? Did she love me? Why you Love me? Why my divorce? Why I want a youger wife? Dont get me wrong, My fiance is the most beautiful russian I have every seen and is much prettier and attentive to me than any woman I have every met, The Embassy continued to ask WHY ? WHY ? WHY ? then after all of these question, The lawyer documents were not right, This lawyer writes documents all the time for Ladies that go to the embassy, The embassy thinks that my Fiance wrote the release of her child to come to the US, This document is Stamped, sealed and signed, SO now they embassy wants the father to appear in person At the embassy for PROOF!. these consulars are so wrong. I have called many hundred times, but the line is busy , I send emails but they are not answered, I send faxes and they are not replied to. This is the embassy from hell. I id not know what the embassies do but I am sure my taxe dollars could get compitent people to do the interviewing a lot better than these 2 lady consulars. The man consular from all the ladies experence say that he is great, He knows the needs and aslk all questions with respect to the people he talks to. So from July 17 2006, when I went to meet My fiance for the first time, till now has been a very long process and it appears this embassy is not going to get any kind or cordination . Just remember everything in Uzbekistan cost twice the cost here in the us for services that are free here in US.

Any other questions,,, please sk me

Here is a quick rundown on us: me 50, her 43, daughter 7. She is half russian/half Uzbek which is pretty ordinary in Tashkent. DAughter's father has not been in the country for over 6 years. Met 18 months ago, filed last july. Second visit last november. Embassy interview 13 Mar. She had to wait about two hours but once inside everything went like it should. I sent my 50 year old birth certificate but everything else was notarized. I have never seen an original divorce decree--so I don't know what that is about. Lola said nothing about any of the embassy personnel being rude and she would have said something! She is still in Tashkent--I am not sure how she would feel about talking to someone but if you think it might help, ask me to ask her. :) Oh, we did everything ourselves! We are so proud!! haha And I am very grateful I didn't screw something up!!! And she will be here 19 April!!! Just got text from her--she received VISA Today!!! It had been held up due to workload. WOW!! I am .........shaking. Jeezz I better go over the house again! dust dust dust!!!

Yes ,If she would talk to My Fiance it might mean a lot to her. They can talk about which consular she had and what they were asked. I also filled out all my papers and , I am like you , I did not make any mistakes on my part, Ececpt for the Orginal divorce in the papers I sent with the affidavit of support. My fiance now is having to wait on her X to get a new passport, seems like he just lost it since last week or it expired ,, I do not know. So how do we get our fiances talking, Is there a way to send a direct email to you to give her number so she might can call. My fiance is 24 and will be 25 on April 18, We were so hoping she would be here 2 months ago but with the work load on our USCIS I thought it would never leave the USA, my email is: popcorn At pinebelt dot net. Hope to hear from you soon

,,the interview went very well and the woman spoke fluent Russian. She asked many questions and really wanted to verify that there was substance to the relationship.,,

There at the embassy they dont really understand why fiance(e)s dont want to be interviewed in English and of course asking them, how are you communicating to your man if you dont understand English?Thats why they ask many questions and want to be sure that applicant is in love with petitioner...

,,My girl is Russian not Uzbek so I think that counted in her favor as well.,, Wrong statement..It doesnt matter Uzbek or Russian..Here in Tashkent Russians ,Uzbeks,Mixed..everybody...I am half Russian/half Uzbek and I had no problem in my interview...Consular only wants to make sure that all paperwork is correct, applicant doesnt have criminal records and that fiancee will marry petitioner within next 90 days since she arrived to US...You need to come with smile, good attitude and all paperwork that they need..They are humans too and just doing their job!!!

All of our processing went very well (all considered and in spite of the fact that our government agenciesl do not communicate well between each other).

It really paid off to develop a meticulous check list of our own. All of our papers were in order, complete and correct the first time. All Russian documents were certified copies with English translation certified before submitting (fees for this were very small in Tashkent). We used no attorney, simply because no attorney could give us a simple list of ‘value add’ of what they could provide for their fees that we could not do ourselves.

After a long search, checking dozens of local and national listing for legal assistance, we could not find a single attorney that had current information (real hint…if their WEB sites list old forms, old instructions and old addresses of where to send forms; they probable will only use your fees to get up to date as to what needs to be sent to whom and when.) I will say that one very nice attorney acknowledged that they would have to do all the same checks that we were doing and that what they really do is double check all forms for completeness (only you will know if the information is really correct). They have no special phone numbers or special, direct contact with the Embassy(s).

For Russian applicants, some attorneys have a legal-aid contact in Moscow (which often means they can find someone that speaks Russian to call your Fiancée but a guarantee that their Russian helper can directly answer specific questions K1 processes; these will likely be routed back to the attorney). I would have been glad just to have a good/ knowledgeable interpreter local in Tashkent, who my fiancée could talk to. I found that attorneys in the U.S. who had some support in Moscow still knew nothing specific about Uzbekistan or the Embassy in Tashkent.

After receiving notice that the NVC had forwarded our approved application to the Embassy, we went through a very frustrating week… We were shocked to hear that the Embassy showed no record of application. At that point we did not know that the NVC uses a “TH” number which they assign to your application. When we emailed and called the Embassy we were asking the Embassy to check under the “WAC” case number assigned by the USCIS (which is NOT sent to the Embassy). It was through my research on this WEB site that I discovered that the NVC assigns a new “TH” number to applications and this is the only number used to track my application after it leaves the NVC. Once we gave the Embassy the correct number for our application, everything went well for us. My fiancée (now my wife) waited four hours on her interview day before she was seen, but her interview lasted less than 5 minutes; she was asked two questions before she was told “Congratulations, and welcome to America”. We had to wait from Wednesday to the following Monday to receive the official stamp in her passport as the approval has to be registered and acknowledged back in the U.S. and it takes a while for computers to be updated..
