I got VISA!!!!! It was on 6th March. I went in at 8:30 AM First my Interview later was taken over by one guy and given to the IV unit counter. The person at counter called me after some time and then ran through my application and all the documents. He then said that he didn't accept my date of birth affidavit and asked me to produce some other secondary proof. Luckily I had my driving license original but it was at Hotel room. I requested the gentlemen and he gave me a re-entry slip. I then rushed to my hotel room, got the driving license, came back to consulate IV unit and handed over it to him. After half-an hour came the turn for taking fingerprints. Then after two hours an young american lady took the interview. She asked the following questions after taking an oath of truthfulness:

1) how I met my fiancee.

2) what's my brother doing in US

3) my occupation and that of my fiancee

4) dates of my first marriage and divorce... and that of my fiancee

5) how many kids do I have and so do my fiancee from first marriage

6) what's their age

7) when did my fiancee come to India

8) did we have any engagement like function

9) where I am presently working

10) why don't I move to US by requesting my company (MNC)

11) why do I want to get married in US

12) why did I do MCA after my MA

13) did my family and their family approve of this relation

14) does my fiancee's kid know me

15) why didn't my fiancee visit India in last five years

16) when did our relation start and when did it take a serious turn

17) will I marry once I am in US

Then she said that the visa is approved and I should be getting the passport soon. I requested for collection at VFS by day's end but she refused saying that the policy is not to give the passport on the day of interview. She requested me to contact VFS on when I will get the passport. Also she gave some briefing on what I can do and I cann't in US on this visa.

Of the total of ten IV applications (2 each of IR/CR, K1, K3 etc.) 5 received green slip that day and five got through!!!!! I was the last but one to go. I finally came out by 13:30 HRS

I am glad that it is over. People going through Chennai K1 have to remember

1) Take your 10th class marksheet or Inter marksheet as secondary proof of date of birth (original and photocopy)

2) You won't be getting the passport on the day of interview

3) X-Ray is not required

4) you cannot take waterbottle or Cell phones inside

Hi all,

I am finally in US!!! I arrived here on 14th. The journey details is as follows:

At Hyderabad Airport I was asked to fill Immigration/Customs form. Then the Immigration/Customs guys verified my ticket, my passport and my VISA. The guy who did it wasn't aware of K1 visa. So he cosulted the officer in charge there. Then I was through.

The POE Chicago was also smooth. I already filled the I-94 and Customs form in flight itself. Then I submitted I-94 to the Immigration guy at Chicago. I was asked only one question "Why am I here in US?" to which I replied that I am on K1. Then he opened the documents did some checking. Then took my finger prints and said "thanks. You are done".

Then I collected by baggage and then went for Customs check where I handed over the Customs form. Then straight to my connecting flight to Salt Lake!!!

Overall it was smooth experience.

Thanks

Heyaaa RSA,

I can't tell u how glad I am to have found you.

I have been looking through the whole of the forum just to find someone from hyderabad.

I have applied for a K1 visa.

Got NVC on April 7th..

Interview date on May 19th

Till now I haven't got any packets from the chennai consulate.

My questions -

1.What all forms do you need to submit to obtain a clearance certificate from commissioner's office ?

2.Can my mother do it for me,since I am currently not in India. Is it very straightforward as you say,

do we need to use influence/bribes?

3.How did you do the PCC frrom the passport office?Did you work through an agent. How long did it take.

4.Is there a list of vaccinations that i need to take?

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ answer these questions. You are the only one from Hyderabad that i kow off.

It would be a greatttt help.

Hi Jeeves,

My answers are inline.

Heyaaa RSA,

I can't tell u how glad I am to have found you.

I have been looking through the whole of the forum just to find someone from hyderabad.

I have applied for a K1 visa.

Got NVC on April 7th..

Interview date on May 19th

Till now I haven't got any packets from the chennai consulate.

Talk to the consulate immediately. You don't have much time for documentation and Packet 4 is absolute must for information.

My questions -

1.What all forms do you need to submit to obtain a clearance certificate from commissioner's office ?

I suggest contact the District Commissioner's office (old city) and go straight to Special branch (contact between 15:00 to 16:00 hrs Mon-Fri). They will give the latest requirements. What they asked from me were:

a= Challan for Rs.500/- paid through e-seva (make a photocopy of the challan)

b= application form for PCC (given by them)

c= clear xerox of passport all pages

d= residential proof

e= purpose of PCC (give a copy of Packet 4)

f= two affidavits of two serving government servants on Rs.10/- stamp paper - signed and notarized. The template will be given by the office

g= 6 passport size photos - 4 pasted on app and 2 attached separately

THEY WILL TAKE ATLEAST TWO WEEKS FOR PROCESSING

2.Can my mother do it for me,since I am currently not in India. Is it very straightforward as you say,

do we need to use influence/bribes?

As far as I remember, they said that I should submit it in person. If you want an exemption, talk to them. They are straightforward and friendly. I didn't give any bribe to get it done because it is against my principles.

3.How did you do the PCC frrom the passport office?Did you work through an agent. How long did it take.

I filled their application for PCC and went to Passport office, got the appointment slot and then handed-over the application to them with required supporting docs. THey charge Rs.300 for it. Within a week you have to go back at the given time to collect the PCC. I didn't go through any agent since I believe in doing work myself.

4.Is there a list of vaccinations that i need to take?

Though not required for K1, yet because it is cheap in India, take the following at Institute of Preventive Medicine.

1. MMR dose 1

2. TD dose 1

3. MMR does 2 (after a month of 1st)

4. TD dose 2 (after a month of 1st)

5. Varicella

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ answer these questions. You are the only one from Hyderabad that i kow off.

It would be a greatttt help.

I posted all my experiences with details in this forum. Search them for your questions and you will get answer to most of them. If not, post it here and we will help you out.

THANKS :help:

They didn't do the police verification for me since my passport renewal was done two weeks earlier. And yes, I finished the passport PCC process within a week.
