Economic Stimulus

  1. 1. Say that the stimulus package passes and you get an extra $600 or $1200, what will you do with the money?

    • Spend it on things that I WANT but cannot afford
      3
    • Spend it on things that I NEED but can't afford
      11
    • Pay off debt
      26
    • Spend it freely, as this is the purpose of the money
      4
    • Save it for later expenses

I'm going to owe the IRS. By the time we get that refund, I may need it for bail money!

Plus, the rebate itself is taxable income.. so if you get $1200 figure on paying taxes on that amount in 2009.

You are just full of good news today, aren't you!!!!!

Hubby and I would buy a new bed.

That is our choice if we don't owe the IRS by then. Our mattresses are fairly new and nice; but the bed is a squeaky mess.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The 'final' bill is anyones guess. I'd like to see the income cap at no less than 200k.

Ok, so right, no one can say at this point that they won't get anything... in one week the number fluctuated between $300 and $800 per individual... who knows?

right

200k still leaves me out

why do people think they aren't going to get any?

Lots of people won't get any.

For example, if current news reports are how the bill pans out in the end, married couples with household incomes over 150k won't get any. That's a huge number of households in higher-cost parts of the country. You basically have couples with two middle-income jobs (75K each) disqualified from the rebate.

Also, people who did not receive a paycheck won't get a rebate.

I'd heard that even the richies were going to get it...someone on the news was saying how exactly does giving Bill Gates a $1200 married couple rebate, put money back into the economy.

I wasn't thinking about non-earners....didn't think we had any on VJ, support for immigrant spouse and all...

The Senate bill would give it to Bill Gates. But the bill passed yesterday in Congress has an income cap of 150K for couples.

The 'final' bill is anyones guess. I'd like to see the income cap at no less than 200k.

well, seeing as I don't currently have any debt, I'll put it in the bank for later expenses. Never hurts to have a "rainy day" fund in case you have car trouble or unexpected expenses.
