We just moved into a new condo a couple months ago. It's a small condo village. There are 5 buildings with 6 units in each. Half are owned by a realtor/management company and the other half are individually owned.

We're renting an individually owned unit w/1 yr lease - but when we took this place, the owner offered the option to buy. We've been in the buying market and the deciding factor on taking this condo was the option to buy. We just don't want to move towards a commitment until this mortgage mess settles down as it effects the sell/buy price.

Anyway, we're very happy here. Our landlord is very nice. It's quiet and we have wonderful neighbors. Blah, Blah, Blah...So as I mentioned, in the interim, we're renting. Well, I took a peek at craigslist today and noticed that there are a few condos in this place that are renting, all for $125-205/mo less than what we are paying. All of these condos are the same design set up, same sq footage, except end units which have a good sized elle of the living space (could be used as an office or a 3rd Br). One of the rents advertised is an end unit, with the elle.

We're wondering if perhaps we're being overcharged.

So, my question is, should we bring this up to our landlord? If so, what to say? We want to address this - but don't want to create a problem.

Additionally, our landlord is our city's Chief of Police.

advice please!

You've signed a lease. The negotiation is over. Your next opportunity to renegotiate the price will be at the end of the 1 year lease.

It's possible that he has made renovations that make your condo nicer than those around you. It's all relative, really. What you are paying is completely independent of what others are paying.

Like the last poster said, you signed the lease and you are bound by it.

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

In a modest town where honest people dwell

--July 22---------Sent I-129F packet

--July 27---------Petition received

--August 28------NOA1 issued

--August 31------Arrived in Terrace after lots of flight delays to spend Lindsay's birthday with her

--October 10-----Completed address change online

--January 25-----NOA2 received via USCIS Case Status Online
