Gak. I feel icky. Had nightmares all night, woke up all sweaty and nauesous. Blech.

I always wish that I had written down some of my scarier nightmares 'cause I swear they'd blow Stephen King out of the water, you know????

Maby that's where he gets his material from

Perhaps my icky feeling was a premonition. My uncle died this morning. So the saying proves true again. My dog died Sunday, my girlfriend's husband died yesterday, and uncle today. Geez.

Making a breif stop before to go to classes today. I am exhausted. I slept three hours but finished my paper on the Vietnam War. WHAT A MESS THAT WAR WAS!

Anyways... it had me thinking all night.

I am suffering without contact from Waleed. I don't like this. It feels like a big hole inside me and it's only been a week he was taken into the military training. I wonder how he is and what they are doing to him.

That has me thinking too much too. Trying to plan for a future with him is unpredictable at the moment because things are unstable in his life thanks to the wrench the military threw in there. I can't anticipate anything except to be in the present taking it one day at a time attempting to focus on the worst semester of my Academic career. I hate this semester and like someone said yesterday it's going to be like biting a leather strap and enduring it. I'm just going to have to do it. There isn't any way around it.

I better get to the coffee shop before class to get a bite to eat before the rush.

Oh and Happy Tuesday all!

(((HUGS)))

Try not to think about it. I know it's hard to do ;) but hang in there and keep yourself busy. He will make it through the training no matter what they are doing to him (don't ask for stories, it will just make you wonder more). You are in the semester from hell, but just throw yourself into the work and try to keep your mind from wandering (doesn't help at night in bed, but hell, that's what sleeping pills are for ;))

Ty for the condolences. I was laying in bed last night wondering who the 3rd one would be. At least my uncle died peacefully. He was at home, where he lived with his daughter, her husband, and their 3 children. He passed on in his sleep from an apparent heart attack. He had been in poor health for several years, so it wasnt a complete shock, although he was only 55. It could have been much worse.

I now forbid anyone I know to leave the house or do anything remotely dangerous. Papercuts included.

Its always held true in my experience. Although I cannot recall an instance in the past where 3 deaths hit in 3 days, at least in my family/friend circle. I was telling my mother about the girlfriend's husband who died yesterday and how funerals come in 3's. She scoffed and said alot of things come in 3's. This morning when I called her about my uncle, she said she had mentioned the 3's to dad and he laughed, but now she says I mustve been right after all. I didnt want to be right though, not with her brother being number 3.

And yeah, Im glad the third one has come. I hate waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not that I wished death on any, never would. I do wish they'd all at least been able to see the baby. Even the dog would have been pleased, he was one hellvua babysitter.

TY. So far Im handling it okay, but I think that's because Im not at the epicenter. Hubby didnt want me to drive by myself for an hour to go see family today. And I cant really blame him. After talking with my cousin and aunt, its just as well Im not there around everyone right now. Aunt is recovering from the flu and strep throat and cousin has a head cold. I do plan on attending the funeral on Saturday, since my parents are coming into town and I can go with them.

Last night I was wondering about my friend's husband's funeral and when it might be (he tested postitive for cocaine at the hospital, so I imagine they'll be doing an autopsy and delay burial awhile). And now Ive got another funeral in my lap. When it rains it pours. Im wondering if I should try to attend both. I dont do too well around upset people these days, and Im not much support for anyone. But I dont want to be rude.

Cannabis bigger cancer risk than cigarettes: study

Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:45am EST

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Smoking a joint is equivalent to 20 cigarettes in terms of lung cancer risk, scientists in New Zealand have found, as they warned of an "epidemic" of lung cancers linked to cannabis.

Studies in the past have demonstrated that cannabis can cause cancer, but few have established a strong link between cannabis use and the actual incidence of lung cancer.

In an article published in the European Respiratory Journal, the scientists said cannabis could be expected to harm the airways more than tobacco as its smoke contained twice the level of carcinogens, such as polyaromatic hydrocarbons, compared with tobacco cigarettes.

The method of smoking also increases the risk, since joints are typically smoked without a proper filter and almost to the very tip, which increases the amount of smoke inhaled. The cannabis smoker inhales more deeply and for longer, facilitating the deposition of carcinogens in the airways.

"Cannabis smokers end up with five times more carbon monoxide in their bloodstream (than tobacco smokers)," team leader Richard Beasley, at the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand, said in a telephone interview.

"There are higher concentrations of carcinogens in cannabis smoke ... what is intriguing to us is there is so little work done on cannabis when there is so much done on tobacco."

The researchers interviewed 79 lung cancer patients and sought to identify the main risk factors for the disease, such as smoking, family history and occupation. The patients were questioned about alcohol and cannabis consumption.

In this high-exposure group, lung cancer risk rose by 5.7 times for patients who smoked more than a joint a day for 10 years, or two joints a day for 5 years, after adjusting for other variables, including cigarette smoking.

"While our study covers a relatively small group, it shows clearly that long-term cannabis smoking increases lung cancer risk," wrote Beaseley.

"Cannabis use could already be responsible for one in 20 lung cancers diagnosed in New Zealand," he added.

"In the near future we may see an 'epidemic' of lung cancers connected with this new carcinogen. And the future risk probably applies to many other countries, where increasing use of cannabis among young adults and adolescents is becoming a major public health problem."

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.
