The wedding thing - why does that matter?

I feel like so many girls get caught up in "the wedding" and not as much about "the marriage"

I have friends who spent soo much money and cared so much about the cake, the dresses, the color...I just don't get it.

It's the union of the two of you that is important...you can have the "show wedding later, but isn't you and him the most important thing? Just remember what's important - you know?

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

The wedding is important because it will be my only one. A lot of people may have the fancy wedding at a later time but as my mom says, that's not the way we do it here. One wedding. That's all I get. And I'll be darned if it isn't just how I want it.

why is the wedding so important to you? why does it matter? It's a whole lotta money spent on ONE DAY..when in reality it's the rest of your LIFE that is what is important.

You must be one of those princess brides. I had a small 30 person affair...would I have liked my parents there? yes. Would I have liked to have a reception with a band and flowers and all taht? yes...but to me my husband and our life together was more important.

Why are you so intent on bugging me about my wedding? A small wedding worked for you, I happen to have a lot of important people in my life who I want to be at that day, it WILL NOT be a princess wedding. If the siutuation arises that it is impossible, I will marry Javier anyway, because he is the most important thing to me, but as long as it remains possible I will have my wedding and I think you either should respect that or leave me alone about it...or both.

you're the one that asked the question...how can I "bug" you? If it irritates you to confront the fact that a "real" wedding is more important to you than your actual marriage then don't read it. I really can't state that enough.

What does respect have to do with anything?

I don't know you, so how can I, or not, respect you? Goodness.

Stop asking questions you don't want to hear answers to - have you not learned that yet here?

I didn't ask anything about my wedding. I asked if I should pursue another immigration path. If you will READ the WHOLE thread you will see that we came to the decision of no for many more reasons than the wedding. And now for God's sake, LEAVE ME ALONE.

Again - I can't leave you alone if you keep reading, and responding to my posts...

if I irritate you, again , just don't read. Is that concept REALLY that hard?

The thread title is "What do I do?"

Then we go into a debate about - to marry now, or not...

and your CON as to why NOT to get married was because you want a princess wedding...

how am I off base here?

Yeah, you do irritate me. You dug up my post to cause trouble with me, ignoring the point of the post (by the way, we decided that to change the immigration path would end up costing us more time than to stay the current course-thanks for caring!) and instead picking some detail to argue with me about.

Melissa,

You should get married exactly the way you want to.

JMHO.

Riiiight - hey I can go at this all day...you call it picking on you - I call it entertainment.

I love how people can get so riled up over stuff like this.

I can't imagine being annoyed by something said about me on a message board...

keep reading - keep posting :) I'll be here until 2:20!

I was just expressing my opinoin - you're the one who chose to fight. If you think I give two ***** how you get married you are sorely mistaken. I was expressing MY opinion, as we do on public forums, that too many women focus on the WEDDING and not the MARRIAGE.

You took it personally and starting writing back. Hey, I don't care, cause like I said it's entertaining to me.
