I-131 question

Hello everyone, I am new to these boards and I have a question regaring the I-131 application.

I have to go back to my country (Brazil) for an emergency surgery in my brain. I have filed the I-131 with an attourney (my husband's father), and I included a letter from the doctor with a translation, plus pictures and copy of passport and biometrics receipt.

Now, can I go back and then my husband sends me the documents later or do I have to wait for them?

I will have to stay in Brazil for 3-4 months until I'm fully recovered.

I don't have insurance here yet so doing it here was out of question

Unfortunately, you are not allowed to leave the U.S. until you have been approved for you AP and have your documents with you. The documents are not to allow you to leave the U.S. They are required when you re-enter the U.S., but if the date on the AP is prior to your date of departure, you will be denied entry.

You should try to make an appointment on InfoPass with your local office, take the doctor's letter, the form, fee and pictures and see if they can approve it for you there. I got emergency AP at my local office and was given the AP documents the same day.
