again changing what people say. you are the one who dreamed up the rationalization "well they succor to murders too".....note...a murderer that has commited the murder is seeking forgiveness & succor. an illegal immigrant squatting in the church is still an illegal immigrant hiding from the law & looking for succor. past tense/present tense. don't remember saying "you feel provideing succor = condoning murder" plz point that out to me....as far as the advocating...read your posts on abortion, legalization of drugs. passing judgements...please.

I realise that's what you think I mean but the fact that it doesn't either means I am not clear when posting what I mean, which is possible, or that you can't understand what I post which is also equally possible. I have no intention of dragging up all those posts regarding abortion and de-criminalizing drugs in this thread, that would be pointless.

However, regarding the actions of priest with those who have broken secular laws, I stand by what I said. A priest's duty is to the tenets and creeds of his religion, not to secular law. He may and should provide succour to one and all, without passing judgment on whatever they may or may not have done. If that's too hard to understand then I have nothing further.

I have nothing against christianity or christians per se, however, if you purport to be a christian, I do anticipate that you would at least stand by the tenets and creed of your religion. If you do not, I might point that out as I see it, which is after all what makes for a discussion.

I do have a huge problem with religious organisations and much of the hypocrisies that it seems to me occurs as soon as a religion adopts weighty hierarchies.

I didn't say I didn't know about it, I said, I wasn't one. I think you might find the two things are slightly different. As for making blanket statements...which ones are simply untrue of christians? That priests are not meant to minister to everyone? Granted, my knowledge of confession is a little sketchy and yours should now be comprehensive after reading that document, so please feel free to correct my errors on that one.

One of the things I truly like about christians is their capacity for compassion and tolerance. I admit, I would find that extremely difficult. Lucky for me, that's not something I have to display.
