Well if you speak with a Scottish accent like I do the R is very much there in STAR..... so maybe we should make Scottish the offical language here in the US... then everyone would talk proper...........

I say it should be English and everyone should be required to speak English or at least be in the process of learning!

I agree.

And my husband is brown and does not speak Spanish.

I agree to an extent, but if someone can get through their life with no problems without learning English, that's fine with me. America is all about freedom to do just about anything that doesn't harm others and a few things that do. The freedom to talk however you want doesn't seem to threaten anything that I can think of.

I say English As She Is Spoke In England. Look at this word: herb. Note the 'h'? 'Nuff said.

Steve for President!

Rey insists on saying "herb" with the "h," claiming that it is more correct.

Me too. It confuses people when I use it, I think that they think that a creamy sauce with herbs is a creamy sauce with old Herb Bumgardner in it from number 2135 County Road.

I vote NO. I am not racist either. I just feel that it's wrong to be excluded from applying for a job that in all areas one is qualified for just because one doesn't speak Spanish as well as English (or American English if you will). MHO is if you want to come here, great! However, learn to speak the common language that the majority speaks. As always, this is ONLY my opinion and not to be taken as the gospel. :D

Just as I study to learn the language of the country I'm in - I think people should learn English too. If my husband showed no interest in learning English I wouldn't like that.

Hmm, I think the only true Americans, the American Indian should have at least some input here. After all when all other codes had been broken during WW2 IT was the American Indian language that saved our English speaking arsses.

Good thing the white man exterminated the natives to the point they did or else you couldnt use a native language as code any more than you can use english as code today.
