I just recently went to Brazil and my sister in law and we were drinking choppe and she had a side of what looked like dark juice and my husband said it is called "grosalia?" (spelling?). He couldn't describe it for me.

But she would add it to the beer and make it more sweet. It was dark red or purple.

Anybody know what this is in english or if you can get it in USA? It was really good.

Thanks

The name is "groselha" and it's a syrup made from a type of currrant, the red one being the red currant. The only currant I've seen in US is the black currant though, but with the proper name you can search for it.

There is a maker of syrups that are used for drinks and italian ices called Torani. I am sure if you have ever been in a Italian coffee shop you have seen them.

They have one call Black Currant Syrup that should do the trick.
