Hello All,

Just like many on the board, I am awaiting my NOA2 for both my K-3 and my I-130. I sent in my I-130 in August of 2007 and finally received my hard copy approval on December 27, 2008. Luckily I did not wait till that point to file my I-129 K3 as I did it before hand and received that on November 7, 2007. To date I have not rx'ved my NOA2!

My question to all is during these tireless waiting "DAZE" what documents or preparations can I and my spouse abroad do ahead of a much anticipated NOA2 approval for the the next stage of NVC and for the distant Embassy Interview! I would appreciate any simple or detailed feedback or any links to similar type inquiries.

*I am new to this site and will be filing out my timelines etc shortly.

Regards and best wishes for everyones' cases!

I don't know if my answer would apply. This is the IR/CR forum. You filed for K3. I think the NVC process is a little different for K3 visa filers. You may have better luck posting this question in the K3 forum.

A couple of questions.

As the other poster said, you have 2 petitions pending, I-130 and k3 it seems.

Depending on how you filed them, your only choice may be K3.

As of July, 2006, if you file both I-130 and K3, the USCIS holds the I-130 and only processes the k3 (unless you file a I-860 too).

Some if you are going k3, those folks in k3 forum can better answer you.

The things I know you need to be gathering no matter which petition you file is:

1) Proof of relationship - phone logs, email, video chat, air tickets, pictures of visits including you and other family members... all that mess.

2) proof of financial responsibility, request your irs transcripts for previous 3 years. You will need to use your w2/tax copies for the current year since it is early, after april 15 you can file for this years transcript if needed.

3) marriage and birth certificates for foreign spouse and foreign children. I presume you already have these notorized and filed with your petition, but double check and get them if needed.

4) Go ahead and fill out the proof of financial responsibility (it is I-864 for IR/1 but it is something else for k3). Gather what ever else you need for it, though some of the items need to wait until you are asked so that they are current (last 3 pay checks and letter from employeer)

5) The DS-230 (application for visa) is required for both visas, and you can get your foreign spouse to fill it out now and sign it. For the K3, she will need it in her country, for I-130 you need it in america. Maybe have her fill out 2 and sign them so you have one on both sides of the world :)

Best of luck.
