People who oppose the legalization of marijuana are big government nanny state liberals.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

i have to wonder how many that are for the legalization of it use it

And how does that change the validity of the argument?

I'd also be willing to bet that a large number of those against it have driven drunk before, which is far worse.

so that won't show any bias on their part?

People who oppose the legalization of marijuana are big government nanny state liberals.

or maybe those who want it legalized are all for big government nanny state programs ;)

If you guys haven't seen it, check out Reefer Madness. Hysterical movie, but it was used as propaganda for criminalization. If you keep in mind that the movie was said to be entirely accurate, your jaw will drop.

That movie was insane. Most of the time I was like WTH????????????

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

That's a very weak argument. There is plenty of big money bias on the other side from beer and tobacco peddlers.

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

I don't use pot (or any drug of any kind). I'm all for legalising it. What people do to themselves is their own damn business. I've never heard of a stoned driver causing a wreck, but I've heard of lots of drunk drivers doing so.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

and arguing for it based on the monetary aspect isn't weak?

Actually, it's very important argument to be made. Feel free to refute it.

I would just prefer that my hard-earned money not be used to imprison people for a completely harmless act.

I also included the socio-political argument of reducing violent crime by weakening drug cartels. Another important point. Again, feel free to refute it.

You didn't state an opinion, though. Ad hominem, anyone?

I agree with everyone else in that it should be legalized but I've got another question. Why is it that substances like Salvia remain legal when they induce similar "altered" states? It seems to me to be pretty similar to marijuana (but I don't really know much about it) so I don't understand why it is legal and pot is not.

Salvia is a COMPLETELY different animal. Very different effects, apparently.

Salvia is actually being outlawed as we speak. Within the last 2 years it was made illegal in Louisiana. Other states have done or are doing the same.

Ok, I don't really know anything technical about it besides the experience it gives one that uses it!

Reading about the effect of any drug is pointless. Ya gotta try it. Salvia and pot are not even close.

Is there anyone here that is against legalization? Just wondering.

Charles has said he's against legalization of marijuana.

So am I.

For the record, I don't, and I don't drink much either. But I don't see why on earth the government would criminalize people for what they put into their bodies.

The same big-government nanny state liberals who want to regulate what you put inside your body also want to regulate what women do with their bodies. They don't just stop at our bodies, they want to control our minds too. They want to regulate pornography too. All because it's good for us. They are the nanny-state hard-left big-government tax-and-spend liberals of our generation.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
