I'm totally impressed, VJers. Y'all seem pretty rational about this subject. I gotta agree with everyone who posted before me so far.

I think there's a huge consensus among Americans that keeping marijuania illegal is ridiculous. This country is ready to end this absurdity. All we need is the leadership to do it.

I can see why you wouldn't want to be the guy that legalized it, though. It would end up being what you were known for.

It wouldn't have to be a single person. Congress could put forward a bill and then vote on it.

And a President would have to sign it.

I'd much rather see pot decriminalization occur via the SCOTUS. Perhaps through a liberal interpretation of privacy laws. I don't know.

Well obviously. ;)

Now that would be great. Unlikely, but it would be great.

That's a bit different though from a presidential candidate running on a platform of legalizing marijuania. Although that would be admirable, I couldn't see any of the candidates now who would....maybe Ron Paul, but there's too many more pressing issues that he'd focus on.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Why would someone make that their whole platform? I wouldn't vote for anyone who did that.

Michael Jackson should be illegal :protest:

Ha, that was a total Charles joke.

If you get caught with one joint here they arrest you and you go to jail.(AL)

That is stupid to me. If you get caught with a joint at home they just take it and give you a small fine. You can pay it before your court date and avoid going to court.

Pot is no threat to anyone.

Wyoming seems to know that; at least 10 years ago when I lived there...

If you were found in possession of a small amount of pot, it was a $50 ticket. No jail time, no criminal record. Not that I know of many people who even got the ticket. I think there was one. The rest were never cited for anything - just sent on their merry way.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I agree.

I know people that have been smoking pot since high school.

None have ever gone to jail over smoking it.

I don't understand the big deal. I agree with everyone else on here that it's stupid to have it illegal and I'm not a pot smoker. We could use the space in prison for so many other people. If it's legalized I think everyone who is in jail for pot should just be let out. Life in prison for a bag of weed is quite over the top

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

In human terms, this means that there are now about 33,655 state inmates and 10,785 federal inmates behind bars for violating marijuana laws.

OMFG!

No wonder there's no room for the rapists and violent criminals, the prisons are full of pot heads! sheesh...someone needs to sort out their priorities.

ditto

Being known as the person who singlehandedly wiped out X(large)% of the prison population and freed up huge quantities of police resources wouldn't be such a bad thing. The problem could be more that anyone promoting decriminilization would probably be accused of personal interest (being a pot smoker). I'm guessing you would get smeared with that regardless of whether it was true or not. Still, if more and more people, including non smokers, can see the absurdity in this...you never know.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
