Hi all!

Ashraf's interview is in an hour and 45 minutes and I am feeling a little sick to my stomach! I just got off the phone with him to wish him luck and try to send a big hug and kiss through the phone. Insha allah it will be fine and I will post a list of questions he was asked at the Cairo Embassy as soon as I hear from him--- God help us all to get through this process with our sanity and to be with our loved onces soon!!

Take care everyone!

Best wishes for a successful outcome.

Take some deep breaths and try to relax. He could be waiting some hours for the interview and you might as well at least try to take it easy.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

From what I know, Cairo just tells everyone to be there at 9 and then they take you in some kind of order, though I'm not sure if it's by the order you come in or what.

So, while it's possible that he could have his interview right away it seems unlikely. But, someone has to be first right?

:)

Maybe someone else who had their interview through Cairo can verify the way they do it.

Well, they told him his interview is at 730 am.... so hopefully they wont be too behind that early in the morning! (but again like i said this IS Cairo and anything is possible! LOL) I know i wont sleep a minute until i hear from him! I rented movies to help pass the time-- and chatting with everyone here and getting your support helps SO much! :)

When we went we were led to an open area (as in outside, open) and they called his name when his turn came. In the waiting room there were tons and tons of other people but we were the only ones for a K-3 and there were no K-1's there that day. Everyone else was applying for student visas or other types. It could be a while so I'd take it easy and try to get some rest if I were you.

When we went the interviewer never showed up so they rescheduled for the following Sunday at 8am or something. My plane left at 4:30am so I was in Italy on the layover while he was being interviewed and I had to wait until I got home to find out any news. I actually think that was better since I was so busy traveling I had no time to worry! You'll be fine. Thankfully you don't have to work tomorrow so you can catch up on the sleep right? :)

I'm stunned to think that *anyone* in Cairo is working at 7:30 a.m.

What movies did you get?

The consulate in Cairo conducts business on Sunday? Wow, what days are they off? The consulate we went through was closed Saturday and Sunday....like US govt. offices here. (Except for those odd touches that some people get on weekends and national holidays. )

Thanks for the advice-- I did manage to move from my couch to my bed (if that is resting LOL) I can't even imagine how you felt when they rescheduled your interview!! (although it has crossed my mind how I would feel if he got there and they told him they needed to reschedule) And you are right no work tomorrow, but my son is in a hockey tournament this weekend and we have to be at the rink by 7 am LOL I am thinking I will be a little tired!! :)

Egypt is an Islamic country and the days off are Friday and Saturday. Their Sunday is like our Monday here. :)
