Interpreter needed

Hello Everyone,

My question is that my husband does not know english well yet and our AOS interview is in one month. Do I need an interpreter or I can serve as one??

I don't think you are allowed to serve as one. We had the same problem, as my wife's English is not so good. We didn't have any interpreter so she just practiced and practiced from the interviews I printed off this forum. The day of the interview there were only two questions my wife was asked directly: how did you meet? and how did your family feel about you going to the us? She didn't really get the gyst of the second question. my wife answered "They miss me". But she got the sense that the interviewer wanted more so she kept talking and eventually said what the interviewer wanted to hear.

But, I got the feeling that if needed, I would have been allowed to at least clarify the questions the interviewer was asking.

If his English is so poor that your husband does need an interpreter (in the opinion of the interviewer) it cannot be you.

I took an interpreter (a friend) because my wife was not confident enough but she responded to all his questions directly - except two where she didn't understnad the term 'biomerics' and 'espionage.' I don't know enough Spanish to qualify as an interpreter But the interviewer asked me "Why can't you interpret for her?" So! At least in Denver they would have accepted my to be the interpreter. Others here providing this service charge a flat rate of $150 whether its one hour or 4! Also, make sure to go over the I485 with him - my wife was asked all the questions on terrorist/communism etc. etc. and I had gone over those the night before with her - so it did help her in answering "NO." You can also always try university students and/or friends if you know they can speak as well.
