1st I would like to say hello to everybody going through the same thing as we are and that I understand the pain and waiting like I could never understand it before.

Now onto our story......

I wont lie I went to Thailand with the urging of some friends as a single guy hoping to meet woman and have some fun and boy did I :D

I met Nit on my 2nd trip and my life has not been the same since. I didnt plan on falling in love over there. I guess you dont plan on love. I found my love on the 4th day of my vacation she was so beautiful and shy I was instantly attracted to her. I knew that I loved her 4 days later she was so different than any girl I had ever met including Thai women. I ended up spending the rest of my vacation with her and we had a blast and got to know each other better. We both left to go home the same day me back to the US her back to her family in Korat. We both knew we had something special and wanted to see where it would go. I told her I would be back as soon as possible to be with her more. We kept in constant contact after I got home text messages everyday phone calls a couple times a week. I know that does'nt sound to impressive after reading some topics on this board(2-3 calls a day etc.) but you have to understand the language barrier. She does speak english well but her vocabulary is limited so we just ended up saying the same stuff everytime we talked :P You can only tell someone you love them so often before it starts to sound casual and our love was anything but casual.

I returned to Thailand 3 months later so see her again. I took the trip alone which was kinda scary. What if something went wrong how would I get home? and other fears. She met me at the condo I rented and we were finally together again! I went to her village to meet her family what an experience. I already knew that in Thailand if your girlfriend takes you to meet her parents you are more than just dating and I was fine with that. I met her 2 beautiful daughters 5 and 12 and they were so nice it was amazing. I fell in love with the place. I hope to live there someday.

I started the visa process at the end of this trip. Nit and I discussed it for 2 weeks as Nit not me wanted to make sure we werent moving too fast. I ended up hiring a visa law firm in Bangkok to help me with the process seeing as I cant be there with her the whole journey. I know she is in good hands now and that there wont be any mistakes with forms and documents. There is no email or computer access where she lives. The closest city is about 1 hour away so I couldnt even help her that way. I returned home again after the visa process was started and then began the waiting

I got the NOA1 pretty quickly.

I went back to Thailand 4 months after the NOA1 but still had not got the NOA2 yet. She picked me up at the airport this time and we went straight back to her house in Korat spent most of our vacation in her village and again had a wonderful time living in the real Thailand. Got to know her family better and got to show them that I fully intend to take care of their daughter for the rest of my life. That 4 month stretch that we were apart was the hardest thing I have ever done. When I saw her again it was like I had never left and we picked up right where we left off. We went back to Bangkok so I could drop off all of the documents needed for packet #3 so the visa firm would have all my stuff when they needed it. I was hoping to get the NOA2 before I left the US but that didnt happen. Leaving Nit at the airport just about broke my heart she wanted to go with me so bad I have never felt love and dedication that strong in my lifetime. Thai people dont show affection in public too often but she was crying and kissing and hugging me and more or less making a scene that moment will be with me forever...

Finally got the NOA2 a week after I got back home! Jan 18th got the NOA1 Sept 11th so not too long a wait only felt like an eternity.

Hopefully only a few more months until she gets her visa we are both so excited! Next time we leave Thailand together. I cant wait.

That is a nice love story! Welcome to VJ .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Welcome to VJ and best of luck. I hear you man...I haven't seen my girl since April of last year when I was there in Thailand. My girl is from Sisaket and I was born in Udon Thani. We have Thailand thread as well under "SAWASDEE2". Again, good luck with the process. We're still waiting for our interview date.

That's a great story. I went to study abroad to El Salvador, and you are right, you don't plan on falling in love, it just happens.

I wish you the best, I hope you are soon united. And I agree about the waiting, but hang in there, she sounds like she is worth the wait.
