Yeah it does that if they don't add lemon while its boiling. If you add lemon about 5 min before its done cooking, there is no slime. I actually made it last night and it was soooo yummy. Mine is very lemony and spicy because I add Serrano peppers in there while its cooking to give it a nice kick.

I know the mahkshi that we eat is meatballs wrapped in potatoes or eggplant and fried. not sure if thats what it is in other mena countries.
