my girlfriend is mailing the I-129F packet tmwr and she's fretting over every little thing  .

my birth name is Ruairi...but sometimes I use Rory...a rough english version of the gaelic name... for credit cards and utility bills and other things like that

Ruairi is the first name on my passport and that is the name we are using with the I-129F and the G325 forms.

In the other names used fields we have put Rory X

On some of my itineraries and ticket stubs it says rory X and on some of them it says ruairi X

I have never legally changed my name and I use my birthname with all important documents.

Do i need to provide proof that Ruairi X and Rory X are the same person?

Will this cause problems??...will it slow things down when it comes to the background check stage?

:help:

I think you should do the following in my opinion:

Where it asks for your First name on forms, put something like "See seperate piece of paper", and on the seperate piece of paper, you should write down something like:

"My real name Ruairi, but I use the name Rory as an easier English version of my birth name"

Either way, you will need to send in your Birth Certificate to the USCIS (assuming that YOU, Ruairi, are the petitioner), but if you are not the petitioner, then maybe you could try to get a photocopy of your birth certificate (this would be showing your birth name to the USCIS) and then some proof of you using the name Rory (a photocopy of ticket stubs etc).

This is just a suggestion from my point of view, but it is better to be safe then sorry.

If you are going to send in proof to try and assure your problems about your names, then make sure you don't send one piece of proof without the other, and try your best to make it fully explained.

Good luck!

thanks a lot Jakey-Matey

i'll try that.

do you have any thoughts on this...

what if i just leave "the other names used" field blank and just send in my itineraries with my birth name and just leave out the itineraries and tickets stubs with Rory on them...or is that just asking for trouble down the line?

Welcome Rory! While I do not have any advice for you on the name question, I have to say that I am SOOOO excited to find another person from Ireland. My fiance lives in Dublin and we just filed our paperwork last Friday, so it looks like we will be January filers together. Good luck with everything!

P.S. don't forget to update your timeline when you file!
