Exactly. you have to wait until you get your EAD, and then just go down to the DMV. Should be as painless as any trip to DMV is....

If your I94 is not expired - they will also issue you the ID based on your passport and K1 visa - but I don't know how long will the ID be valid for. Else you have to wait for your EAD or green card. good Luck

Every state has different rules. We went to the DMV (in Illinois) and got the ID card with just his passport and Social Security card.

Here in MA they will not issue a State ID or a DL unless you have a SSN and a EAD.... I-94 or NOA for AOS wont be accepted....

Wadi got his Mass State ID last week without an EAD or NOA. He showed SS Card, Passport, bank statement with address, and marriage certificate.

In TX they will issue ID with just SSN on your hand. I have both SSN and passport but the officer didn't look my passport just my SSN.

In Florida you have to have your EAD and SSN... I didn't get around to getting my state ID until I had my greencard and it was totally painless - I just showed them the card and they mailed me an ID card a week later.
