Interview at Syrian Embassy

My wife has an interview scheduled at Embassy in Syria early next month, for CR-1 Visa (I-130). My question is, during the interview, do they conduct it in English, or the native language? Cause my wife does not speak too much English, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this Embassy and if they do the interview in Arabic instead??

Please advise if anyone here has any knowledge of this.

Thanks!

Hi Trekkin,

Welcome to VJ! They will ask your wife which language she would like to use during the interview. Its ok that she doesnt speak much english, what is more important is that the two of you are able to communicate. For example, if you the two of you communicate in arabic than that is ok. However if you only speak english and she only speaks arabic they embassy will want to know how the two of you are able to communicate. This could be a possible red flag if you don't share a common language.

Good luck!

JP

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

They will ask her in which language she prefers to be interviewed(English or Arabic), so do not worry about that .

I had two interviews  the first with a Syrian guy and the second with an American lady and in the both there were no complications.

Good luck

Quick question: Is the CR-1/IR-1 visa routes quicker than the K-3?

Timeline:

Sent in I-130 form: 01/29/09

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....
