Well we went grocery shopping last night. We checked out Publix, kind of nice store, nothing too spectacular (except the prices!). A banana at Walmart/Albertson's/Publix is still a banana!

I did buy a few things there and then we headed over to Albertson's to continue shopping (even though I didn't really feel like shopping in the first place).

So for dinner it was a chicken, coleslaw and potato salad from the deli! We didn't get home until 8:30.

Tonight will be be sloppy joes and a salad!

Last night I rented Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle. We started craving those little burgers so we paused the movie and I went out and got some.

That's awesome.

I've never heard of that movie. Sounds like something I need to watch.

Mike signed us up for NetFlix, we got our first movie the other day, I am Legend. I thought it was kind of scary, I don't care for zombies much really. :hehe:

Good movie. Sean Majumder and Neil Patrick Harris are both in it.

Anyone who has ever dealt with the USCIS doesn't like zombies. If you liked zombies, would you have a craving for human flesh, just wondering. I liked Omega Man better than this remake, Chuck Heston was better than Will Smith. Why don't they show Eating Raoul on TV anymore, that was a pretty good movie. :crying:

Mac and cheese pour diner ce soir.

I am going to try my fav recipe Rosemary Roast chicken with potatoes:

1 onion, sliced

3 garlic cloves, minced

6 chicken legs, thighs or breasts

3 carrots, cut into large pieces

4 potatoes, cut into large pieces

2 yams, cut into large pieces

dried rosemary

dried dill (optional, or use all rosemary)

salt & pepper

water

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Place onion and garlic in bottom of large roaster. Add chicken pieces. Add vegetables. Sprinkle generously with rosemary and dill. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Fill roaster about half full with water, just enough to cover the top of the chicken pieces. Cover and cook in preheated oven for approximately 2 hours. For crispier chicken, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes.

Easy As Pie No Roll Pie Crust

1 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

1/2 cup oil

2 tablespoons cold milk

1. Sift together flour, salt and sugar right into pie plate.

2. Beat together oil and milk and pour over the flour mixture.

3. Quickly mix with a fork just enough to moisten flour.

4. Press into pie plate, ####### all over with a fork and bake at 425° for 15 minutes.

********************************************

Apple Pie Filling

5 1/2 cups peeled, cored and sliced cooking apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

3 tablespoons flour

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Mix all together...

*if you use a sweet apple you might want to reduce the sugar....

****************************************************

Oatmeal Crumb Topping for Pies

1/2 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup flour

3/4 cup oatmeal (any type but instant)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1. In a large mixing bowl combine all the ingredients except the butter.

2. Cut butter into mixture with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs.

3. Spread crumbs over prepared fruit mixture of your favorite fruit pie.

4. Do NOT add top crust.

5. Bake as directed in your fruit pie recipe.

6. If crumbs become too dark while baking, cover loosely with foil, but remove foil the last few minutes of bakings so the topping will crisp.

7. Note: when using this topping there is no need to dot the fruit with butter, if your recipe calls for that.

* I did only half a recipe of the crumbs and it was plenty...

Looks delicious Marilyn, I will try this when I get my baking stuff.

I bought potato and ham soup yesterday, so I boiled some potatoes and asparagus and added them to the soup - with some Italian bread, it was good.
